Turkey has been talking about Uşak Municipality for a week. While tensions between Iran and the US are escalating, the Ukraine-Russia war is raging, Israel and far-right Greece are threatening Turkey, we are still talking about municipalities. Neither the economic crisis, nor foreign policy, nor the problems of survival... We are talking about municipalities, municipalities, municipalities!
Well, let me say a few words about this “dismissal riddle of Uşak Municipality” that has been occupying the agenda for a week.
You discipline and expel Berhan Şimşek for calling Özgür Özel “wearing short pants” at the congress and Barış Yarkadaş for criticizing him on TV programs. You throw ordinary members who share a photo of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu out the door without question. But when it comes to a “card womanizer” whose name is involved in scandals, you drag the process out. You cannot expel him!
Doesn't someone ask: What are you doing?
The people and the grassroots are boiling! People have forgotten the economic crisis, the war and focused on you. Trust is broken. And you are still talking about Uşak, “we have expelled him, we will expel him”. Are you defending a 57-year-old man's unethical life with a 21-year-old? For God's sake, are you out of your mind?
First you said “we suspended his membership”, then you said “we referred him to discipline”. Why are these things so difficult? Instead of cleaning up a shame, an unscrupulousness, a disgrace, why do you go around the party so much?
The people elected you because they believe in merit, morality and justice. But you do not know what you are doing within yourselves. While you say “morality” with one hand, with the other hand you give positions and offices to those with ethical weaknesses. Do you think the nation does not see such a glaring double standard?
Wake up!
People's trust has been broken. This crisis is not only the bankruptcy of Uşak; it is the bankruptcy of your understanding of governance. The day you shelve law, conscience and principles for the sake of the love of seats is the day you lose.
Remember: This country and this people will never forgive those who present themselves as “representatives of justice” and commit injustice!
