Fake Cosa Nostra and the Mystery of the Missing Bag

“If you don't let me out, I'll call everyone to my side.”

In recent days, there has been such a flurry of “confessors” in Turkey that one is inevitably reminded of mafia movies. You know the famous Italian mafia... Cosa Nostra in real name. They have one of the most important laws: “Omertà.” In other words, the law of silence. You don't speak. You keep quiet. You don't sell out the family. Because everyone knows that if one speaks, everything falls like dominoes.

In our case, things seem to have developed a little differently.

Our “local and national Cosa Nostra” model is more like a “Talking Club”. Someone comes out: “I paid with a bag.” Another: “He took a bag.” Another one: “I had his car fixed.” It's not enough: “I gave his girlfriend a watch.”

What kind of criminal organization is this? This isn't the mafia, it's a jewelry ceremony at a wedding.

Normally in mafia movies, guys speak by code name. In our case, they testify as if they were explaining the credit book to the neighborhood grocer. If the prosecutor asks them: “Abi, was the bag black or white?”.

One of the first big outbursts was the words of Aziz İhsan Aktaş: “I handle my affairs through vice presidents.”

Now, in a normal country, this would cause an uproar. Public opinion would say: “Wait a minute, brother, what does this mean?” Lawsuits would be filed, there would be debates on the screens, everyone would be at each other.

But what happened with us? Calm explanations... Parries... “Guys, let's not make a big deal”...

It's as if there is no money in bags, but the organization of a municipal picnic.

But apparently some of them have gotten too used to the luxurious life outside. Hotels, cars, bags, watches, the psychology of prison must have been too much for them, so they switched to the mode of “If I am burning, let everyone burn”.

In other words, our fake mafia's understanding of “Omertà” is: “If you don't let me out, I will call everyone to me.”

This is no longer mafia discipline, it has descended to the level of apartment fights.

The real Cosa Nostra members must be turning in their graves: “We spent years establishing a code of silence, and these guys told the whole season finale in three statements”.

In short, this is not about a criminal organization. This would be a domestic comedy series called “Fake Cosa Nostra and the Mystery of the Missing Bag”.
