Today the CHP faces a historic threshold

Either it will face up to all the allegations and engage in a genuine cleansing and accountability process, or it will continue to rapidly lose political credibility amid allegations of rent-seeking, corruption and moral decay.

The fact that those who once took to the squares with the slogans of “clean politics”, “morality” and “law” are now associated with corruption allegations, rent-seeking relationships, confession statements and publicized scandals has created a major rupture in society. The allegations, especially over municipalities, are no longer a matter of a few individuals, but have turned into a political and moral questioning of the CHP leadership.

The question society is asking today is clear:
Is the CHP really fighting for the people, or is it turning into the center of a growing network of rents and interests?

The allegations of bribery, the dirty dealings around the municipalities, the statements made by confessors one after another and the shady connections that have become public have gone beyond an ordinary political debate. In particular, the allegations voiced by some names and close circles bring about a crisis of trust that extends to the highest levels of the party leadership.

The allegations and confession discussions about Muhittin Böcek and his son, which have been made public, have further increased these debates on decay. The question of who benefits from the municipal resources, which are generated by the taxes paid by the people, is now being asked much more loudly. Because the public wants to see whether municipalities are being used to serve the people or to increase the economic and political power of certain circles.

Another issue that draws reaction is the corrupt lifestyle around politics. While the people are struggling with poverty, the talk around politics about luxurious lives, shady affairs and scandalous entertainment allegations is further fueling public anger. People now believe that there is not only an economic crisis but also a major moral collapse.

The biggest disaster of politics is not the revelation of corruption, but its legitimization for the sake of partisanship. The fact that those who yesterday targeted other parties and said “you will be held accountable” are silent in the face of allegations in their own circles today creates a great rupture in the public conscience.

The proliferation of confessors shows that the system is cracking from within. Because when people within a structure start to speak out, it is no longer only individual mistakes that are discussed, but an institutionalized decay.

Today, the CHP faces a historic threshold:
Either it will face up to all the allegations and engage in a genuine cleansing and accountability process, or it will continue to rapidly lose political credibility amid allegations of rent-seeking, corruption and moral decay.

Because people no longer want slogans; they want honesty, transparency and sincerity. The longing for a politics where no one is untouchable and everyone is accountable is growing every day.
