How can the wrong time, the wrong method and lack of information turn a just cause into an unjust cause?
It is not enough to be right in politics.
When, how and with whom is as important as the idea you are defending.
We have said it many times and we say it again:
If you defend a right cause at the wrong time, you will be wrong when you are right.
This is exactly what is happening today.
The “anti-sharia declaration” issued by some circles, who consider themselves “staunch defenders of secularism”, during Ramadan has neither served secularism nor contributed to social peace.
On the contrary, it was a bullet in its own foot.
Wrong Time, Wrong Mind
The questions that need to be asked are obvious:
Who timed this declaration?
With which political mind was it prepared?
What message did they want to send and to whom?
To serve such a text under the name of “defense of secularism” during Ramadan, when religious sensitivities are at their peak, is nothing but political blindness.
This is not a defense, it is a clear provocation.
No Reaction Without Information
It is not only a question of timing.
What is Sharia?
What is secularism?
Are you really knowledgeable about these issues?
Has a theologian been consulted?
Has an academic study been done?
Has the social impact been measured?
No, no, no.
A sloganic text was prepared based on hearsay and then opened for signature “in the name of secularism”.
To oppose something, one must first know about it.
Reaction without information produces only noise.
Secularism is No One's Monopoly
Secularism in this country is not the monopoly of a certain group.
Today, there are millions of people in the ruling base who are sincerely committed to secularism.
The vast majority of those who vote for the opposition already hold this principle.
So there is no problem of secularism in society.
The problem is the political shortsightedness of some “know-it-alls”.
Same mistake every Ramadan
It's the same scenario every Ramadan:
Same reflexes,
Same mistakes,
Same traps,
Same vote loss...
Then the elections come and there is frustration at the ballot box.
Then confusion sets in:
“How did we lose?”
This is how you lose.
Disrespect for Atatürk
Today, some circles have come to the point of even discussing the Presidency of Religious Affairs, which Atatürk established.
You will claim that you are protecting Atatürk's legacy,
and ignore one of its most fundamental institutions.
This is a clear inconsistency.
There is no politics with imaginary threats
Politics is not about generating fear of sharks.
If you don't know how to swim in the sea, creating fear of the ocean is of no use to anyone.
This is Turkey.
It's not Miami.
JAWS movies are not politics.
This society has real problems:
Lack of livelihood, justice, education, unemployment...
But some still play politics by creating imaginary enemies.
The Real Danger: Those Who Don't Know What They Don't Know
The person who knows what he does not know learns.
The one who does not know what he does not know is a disaster.
This is the source of many of the problems we face today.
Very talkative,
The one who thinks little,
A political understanding that never questions...
The Last Word;
The secularism of this country does not need your declarations.
This nation will not learn to protect its revolutions from you.
But if you continue with this understanding,
You will never see power, nor will you give hope to society.
Either you will learn to shut up, or you will leave your place to those who know.
There is no other way.
