Özgür Özel, who shut the door on calls for an extraordinary party congress within the CHP by saying, ‘No one should beg me for a congress,’ was unable to quell the rumors of a congress with this statement. It is reported that Özel will adopt a tougher stance in the coming days regarding the growing calls for a convention, particularly among the party’s parliamentary group members.
A whip was given as a gift
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who has been overwhelmed by demands from the party congress, hosted a group of Circassians at his office in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Ünal Uluçay, President of the Federation of Caucasian Associations (KAFFED), and his delegation met with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the Chairman’s office in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
According to a statement from KAFFED, the meeting addressed the issues encountered during the process of reallocating the Ankara Circassian Association’s Yaşamkent Social Facilities. Özgür Özel was briefed on the construction process and the reallocation procedures for the facility, for which the Ankara Circassian Association was granted the right of use by the Yenimahalle Municipality.
CHP Deputy Chairperson Gülşah Deniz Atalar, Balıkesir Representative Serkan Sarı, Istanbul Representative Fethi Açıkel, and Düzce Representative Talih Özcan attended the meeting and shared their views and suggestions regarding the resolution of the issue with Özel.
The delegation that visited Özel included KAFFED President Ünal Uluçay, as well as Vice Presidents Şeneser Tokmak and Turhan Yılmaz, Secretary General Ömer Atalar, Ankara Circassian Association President Yusuf Hatuk, and former association executive Murat Kerim Ertan.
During the visit, Özgür Özel was also presented with a traditional Circassian whip and a traditional Circassian garment known as the ‘Sharkon.’.
