The Jose Marti Cuban Friendship Association has launched a new solidarity campaign under the slogan “We are collecting sun for Cuba” within the scope of the protocol with the Republic of Cuba and with the permission of the official authorities in Turkey.
The campaign aims to support Cuba's efforts to increase its solar energy production capacity. Accordingly, solar panels, inverters and energy storage batteries are planned to be provided for the Ernesto Che Guevara Cardiology Center, Daniel Codorniu Pruna General Education Hospital and Freddy Maymura Hurtado Psychopedagogical Center in Santa Clara.

Energy crisis and solar energy solution
It is stated that Cuba has been experiencing serious energy problems recently, with disruptions in electricity production and prolonged outages due to problems in fuel supply.
While the country is focusing on the widespread use of solar energy systems as a solution to these problems, the campaign launched aims to contribute to this transformation.
Critical support for hospitals
It was emphasized that the solar energy equipment to be sent as part of the campaign is vital, especially in hospitals. Electricity is necessary for the uninterrupted operation of ventilators, imaging devices, medical equipment, drug and sample storage systems and ventilation units.
Officials stated that the systems to be provided will contribute directly to patient services by supporting energy continuity in healthcare organizations.
“Our turn for solidarity”
In the statement made by the association, it was reminded that the Cuban people have contributed to aid activities in different countries in the past and said, “Now it is our turn to show solidarity with the Cuban people who have taken it as their duty to help other peoples at every opportunity.”.
It was reported that the campaign was carried out with the permission of Ankara Governorate and activity number 06.2026.4513.
