In Istanbul Pendik, 2 young people were found dead in the morning, one in his car and the other 100 meters away from the car. In the first investigation, it was recorded that the cause of death of the young people was drug use.
CHP Istanbul Call Committee, chaired by Gürsel Tekin, paid condolence visits to the families of the young people who lost their lives.
Drawing attention to the drug problem, Gürsel Tekin shared his post after the visit, “In Pendik, two young people were found dead in a car in the early morning due to drugs. We went to condolence. There was no politics, no polemic. There were mothers.
And the mothers were saying one thing: “We have gone through this pain, let no one else go through it.”
This word is a cry; it is a clear call to the state.”.
National Mobilization Against Drugs is Necessary: The Streets Cannot Be for Drug Dealers and the Graves Cannot Be for Young People

Noting that they receive similar news from different districts of Istanbul every day, Tekin said, “Drugs are no longer an isolated problem; it has turned into a pandemic.
Just as in a pandemic the state has to mobilize all its power, the same is happening today. Every day another neighborhood, every day another child, every day another coffin...
I say this clearly: Drugs are not a public order issue in Turkey, they are a national disaster.”.
“While our young people are being blatantly lost, the government's agenda is perception, pressure and demonstrations. There is a state mind that remains silent while young people die.” Gürsel Tekin continued his statement as follows:
“If drugs are roaming the streets so easily, if young people can access them so easily;
it's not just the drug dealers' fault.
This is the crime of those who do not see, those who do not hear, those who know but remain silent.
This picture is not a coincidence; it is the result of neglect, callousness and wrong priorities.”
CHP's Gürsel Tekin concluded his statement with a call:
“I make a clear and strong call from here:
The state must prioritize the fight against drugs.
A mobilization to eradicate, not token operations, is essential.
Not only police measures, but health, education and social policies must work together.
Rehabilitation centers should be expanded and families should not be left alone.
Bureaucrats and politicians who ignored this disaster must be held accountable.
If a country cannot protect its youth, it cannot talk about growth, development or a strong state.
This is not a left-right issue.
This is not a party issue.
It is a question of whether our children will live or not.
I am saying this so that not one more mother will embrace the earth as “my child”:
Drugs are a pandemic.
Fighting a pandemic is not halfway done.
And I am announcing it from here:
We will not shut up until this order changes.
We will not back down until this disaster is over.”
