The Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Presidency organized a mass Eid al-Adha ceremony with the participation of party members and citizens. The ceremony, hosted by CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Gürsel Tekin in front of the party building, was well attended.
Many prominent figures from the world of politics and media came together at the event. Former Provincial Presidents Ali Özcan and Berhan Şimşek, former State Minister Mehmet Sevigen and journalist Barış Yarkadaş did not leave Gürsel Tekin and his party members alone.
“We Will Not Damage Our Brotherhood Law”
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Gürsel Tekin addressed the party members and the citizens gathered at the ceremony and delivered an enthusiastic speech in which he emphasized unity, solidarity and loyalty within the party. In his speech, Tekin gave special thanks to former provincial chairs Ali Özcan and Berhan Şimşek:
“Our two very valuable former provincial presidents; Mr. Ali Özcan and Mr. Berhan Şimşek... Even though our party has had problems, we will never damage our brotherhood law. Mr. Özcan has been a big brother to all of us and has repeatedly contacted our friends who have created problems outside of us. Let's solve the problems... Our raison d'être is to solve the fight between brothers, the fight!”
“We Do Not Accept Attacks on the Republican People's Party”
Reacting sharply to the recent discussions and allegations against the party in the media, Tekin drew attention to the deep-rooted history of the CHP and continued as follows:
“Let no one worry; we will never accept an attack on the Republican People's Party, we will shield ourselves! Of course, we don't have money, we don't have stamps, we don't have troll gangs, we have never had confessing friends or slandering comrades. This is how we party. We will never have anything to do with giving, receiving, tenders, this and that. The nature of our party, the tradition of our party is not suitable for this.”
“We are a Party Founded on Battlefields”
Reminding that the Republican People's Party is the trust of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Gürsel Tekin concluded his speech with the following strong messages:
“The Republican People's Party will never betray the trust left to us by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Especially the ‘closure story about the Republican People's Party’ that has been talked about in recent days and circulated in some dirty media... Let alone closure, no one can stand in front of the Republican People's Party! We are a political party founded on battlefields. We are not a party where seven people come together and say ‘let's go and form a party’. Even if they criticize us, even if they insult us, we will continue to embrace them. Because Turkey needs this.”
After his speech, Tekin wished a holiday full of peace, democracy and tranquility for all of Turkey, especially for the Islamic geography, and congratulated the citizens one by one. The ceremony ended with intense applause and Eid greetings from the party members.
