 Who is Ahmet Cakar?

Ahmet Murat Çakar born August 3, 1962, Istanbul, Turkish physician, former referee and sports commentator.

After officiating many international matches, he quit refereeing and became a soccer commentator. Currently, in addition to his work as a commentator, he is also a physician, which is his main profession. Çakar is also a sportswriter and game show host. In 1980, after graduating from Istanbul High School for Boys, he graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in order to continue his father's profession and started working as a doctor. Çakar officiated over 100 international matches and derbies during his refereeing career. He is one of the two Turkish referees who officiated a high-level match at the European Championship. He is also one of the three Turkish referees to officiate in the Champions League (the others are Oğuz Sarvan and Cüneyt Çakır).

After ending his refereeing career in 1997, he worked as a newspaper columnist and as a radio and TV commentator. Between 2001 and 2004, Ahmet Çakar, who was a commentator on the Telegol program, was shot with five bullets on February 25, 2004 as he was leaving the health center where he worked as a physician located behind the Profilo Shopping Center in Mecidiyeköy. The cause of the shooting and the shooters have not been determined, but it is believed that it was because of the comments he made on sports programs. After his discharge, he returned to sports commentary. He is currently a sports writer for Sabah newspaper.

He is a football commentator on Beyaz TV. He was also the host of Ahmet Çakar'la Zor Karar, which was broadcast on ATV. Previously, he presented the competition program called Ahmet Çakar'la Şansa Bak, which was broadcast on FOX. He presented the contest called Var Mısın Yok Musun on Show TV.
