The decay of societies does not happen overnight. First concepts are twisted, then crime is normalized, and finally people learn to shut up. Whoever defends theft is a partner in theft. He who legitimizes immorality is part of that decay. Because evil cannot grow so strong on its own; it is the mentality that grows it, finds excuses for it, justifies it.
Today, the issue is not only about someone stealing money, corruption or immoral behavior. The real issue is the existence of those who turn a blind eye to it, those who cover up the crime with sentences starting with “but”. “But he also served”, “but everyone does it”, “but he is close to us”... These “buts” are the most dangerous virus that eats away at the conscience of society. Because at that moment the line between right and wrong is erased.
Theft is not just the emptying of a pocket; it is the theft of a society's future. Immorality is not just an individual flaw; it is the destruction of values. And those who defend these are actually throwing their own tomorrows into the fire. Because those who defend those who steal someone else's rights today will not be able to speak out when their own rights are stolen tomorrow.
What is even more painful is that people now defend their side instead of defending the truth. Instead of defending the truth, they defend whoever is close to them. This is a clear indication of a system in which interests, not morality, dominate. However, morality does not choose sides. Morality is being able to call wrong wrong, no matter who does it.
It must not be forgotten: When there are as many thieves in a society as there are defenders, decay is inevitable. Because crime grows not when it goes unpunished, but when it is defended. And from that point on, the issue ceases to be the fault of a few individuals and turns into a social disaster.
Either we will be a partner in this decay by keeping silent or we will defend the truth no matter what the cost. There is no middle ground. Because those who think they stand in the middle have already fallen on the side of the wrong.
