CHP takes action to save Cennet Bay from Cengiz occupation

Cengiz Construction, which is set to begin building hotels and villas in Cennet Bay, Bodrum, despite two annulment rulings by the Council of State, maintains that the Council of State’s decision does not affect them. The CHP, however, has filed a request with the Investment Board (ÖİB) for the decision to be enforced. They announced that they will file a criminal complaint if it is not enforced.

The Republican People’s Party (CHP), drawing attention to the annulment rulings issued by the local court and the Council of State regarding the property located in the Gölköy area of Bodrum—known to the public as ‘Cennet Koyu’—which was sold to Cengiz Construction through privatization, filed a petition with the Privatization Administration requesting that the property be transferred to the Treasury without delay.

In the petition signed by Zeynel Emre, the CHP Deputy Chairperson responsible for Legal and Election Affairs, it was noted that, given the court rulings resulting from the privatization process and subsequent objections, the transfer of the land to the Treasury is now a legal requirement.

Following the decisions issued by the Muğla 2nd Administrative Court in 2014, the 6th Chamber of the Council of State in 2015, and the Council of State’s Administrative Courts Council in 2016, regarding the ‘Cennet Koyu’ area, was ruled to have been carried out through ’fraudulent registration,‘ —that is, through a method lacking legal validity—and that ownership had not transferred to the company that won the tender. The petition stated the following:

“You are committing a crime”

“However, we have learned that, to date, the High Council for Privatization has not completed the procedures to transfer the property back to the Treasury. The fact that the transfer of the property to the Treasury has not been completed to date reveals that the crimes of Abuse of Office and Embezzlement have been committed, and therefore, action must be taken against the parties involved. It should be noted that, in the event that the transfer of the property in question to the Treasury is not carried out promptly following our application, we will also file a criminal complaint against the relevant parties regarding the aforementioned offenses.”
