“VERDICT IN ”POLITICAL ESPIONAGE" CASE: NO RELEASE FOR IMAMOGLU AND 3 NAMES

Ekrem İmamoğlu, who made a defense against the indictment, described the indictment as a "malicious fiction".

In the trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, journalist Merdan Yanardağ, strategist Necati Özkan and technology investor Hüseyin Gün, the court ruled for the continuation of the defendants' detention and adjourned the hearing to July 6.

STRONG REACTION FROM IMAMOĞLU: “THIS IS A MURDER OF LAW”

Ekrem İmamoğlu, who made a defense against the final verdict, described the indictment as a “malicious fiction”. Claiming that the verdict was planned months in advance behind closed doors, İmamoğlu said “This indictment is a murder of law” and left the hall without waiting for the interim decision.

YANARDAĞ AND ÖZKAN ALLEGE “FORGED DOCUMENT” AND “INTEREST”

Journalist Merdan Yanardağ argued that the indictment contains forged documents and distorted messages, while strategist Necati Özkan claimed that the dossier was prepared “for profit” rather than ideologically. Both emphasized that there is no concrete evidence of espionage in the file.

HÜSEYİN GÜN: “I'M NOT A SPY, WHO DID I SERVE?”

Hüseyin Gün, whose statements were taken within the scope of the effective remorse provisions, said that he had no connection to any organization and that he did not slander anyone. Gün rejected the accusations, asking, “Which state secret did I serve to whom, what benefit did I gain?”.
