“I'VE EVEN GOT A LOAN”

Konakcı made the following statements:

“I say this because what should be spent on mosques and what should be received by imams through the General Directorate of Foundations goes to the state budget. In fact, mosques and clergy even have receivables. We don't receive salaries from anyone's tax - Alhamdulillah - we receive salaries through the foundation system established by Rasulullah (peace be upon him), through the system that has been in place for 1,000 years and 1,500 years. In order to get to this position, we finish school, we finish universities, we take the KPSS exam like a police officer, a soldier, a civil servant, a teacher.

“WE DON'T COME HERE FOR FREE”

As if that was not enough, we take another KPSS similar exam. As if that wasn't enough, we have another interview. As if that wasn't enough, we even have an interview when we change mosques while on duty. We are not here for free. The biggest contributors to the state budget are the goods that Muslims donate to mosques. If they were taken back, if those properties were given back to the Diyanet, we would not need a salary from the state. As imams, we do not receive our salaries from anyone's taxes, but from the foundation system established by the believers.”
