The Lost Years of Turkish History and Kurdistan

A journalist from Diyarbakır who ponders issues such as the Kurdish question, the peoples of the Middle East, human rights, and pressing social issues and problems; who is interested in science and philosophy; who loves humor; and who has a strong sense of wit-Author Cüneyt Alphan’s work, published by Jînda Publications (WhatsApp order line: 0. 530. 562 96 67) “The Lost Years of Turkish History and Kurdistan” He shared his thoughts on our news site regarding his book.

A man with a distinctive style and stance, unaffiliated with any ideology, political party, sect, religious community, or organization, who consistently states that he will never surrender the free and independent will granted to him by God to any institution, and who, despite having a devout side, affirms his commitment to universal global values: Alphan:

“Because of this trait of mine, I sometimes receive criticism from both the public and my readers.”.

They say it’s a mystery who I am.

In Turkey, because society is divided and polarized—or has been polarized—there is a widespread belief that journalists and writers must necessarily align themselves with a particular side. This is completely wrong.

I belong to everyone, but I don’t belong to any institution.

I am the shared conscience of Turks and Kurds, conservatives and liberals, believers and non-believers alike.

I consider it my human duty to stand by anyone who has been wronged, without ever making any distinctions.

I don’t look at a victim’s ethnicity, faith, denomination, or lifestyle choices; I look solely at the fact that they are human.

Because of this trait of mine, I was blacklisted both during the February 28 process and afterward, and all my civil rights were stripped from me. The exams I had passed were disregarded. At times, I even received death threats from the organization (PKK), but despite all of this, I never wavered in my beliefs by even an inch.

An intellectual:

”Even if the whole world were to bow down before a lie, he is the one who does not abandon his conscience or compromise." He said.

“A sword and a gun have no eyes”

CHINESE Proverb

Alphan, who has written thousands of news articles, hundreds of television programs, over a thousand articles, and 20 books to date; regarding his latest book “A sword and a gun have no eyes” Citing a Chinese proverb, he said the following:

“The existence of all humanity—as if cast from a single mold—and of all the nations, peoples, and even tribes that have lived on Earth from the dawn of human history to the present day has been recorded in the annals of history, ensuring their place within the human family.”.

The poet’s;

“Either achieve victory and rule, or become a martyr and attain bliss” As he said, while some nations have succeeded in making their mark on the pages of history by combining their intellect, intelligence, and talent with their determination, others have been defeated in the struggle for survival and have vanished from the stage of history.

To live and exist in history has always been harder than to cease to exist.

The price paid by the people—who groaned under the rule of kings, shahs, dukes, princes, and cruel dictators—to survive, maintain their existence, and free themselves from slavery has been a heavy one.

Throughout history, faith, ethnic identity, language, and cultural life have always been of paramount importance to all peoples of the world, and all wars have been caused by these factors.

We can cite many unfortunate nations throughout history.

The history of the Kurds, whose numbers now exceed fifty million, has also been marked by bloodshed, suffering, and hardship.

The Kurds—who have existed throughout human history yet have never managed to make their mark on it, who have been unable to unite and establish a state, and whose states have lasted no more than two or three months—the Aryans, the Kasites, Babylonians, Medes, Persians, and the Kurds—who fought fierce battles between existence and extinction all the way up to the Ottoman era—have generally been used as pawns by imperialist colonizers, and dominance has been established at the cost of their blood.

As dominant powers have always done, they have written their own version of history by distorting the facts, obscuring the truth, and embellishing events. This version of history conforms neither to the ethics of history, nor to the standards of universal justice, nor to any of humanity’s principles.

For this reason, the Kurdish people—whose history is as ancient as that of humanity itself—have paid a heavy price to survive despite all the hardships they have faced, just like other peoples around the world, and continue to do so.

Geological excavations conducted in Mesopotamia, the cradle of human history, have uncovered numerous artifacts, information, documents, tablets, and other evidence regarding the presence of the Kurds in the region.

The Kurds, who live in the region that is the cradle of humanity, have never been able to benefit from the underground and surface resources of their homeland; they have lived as if they were creatures parched on the shore of a lake.

Throughout the history of the Republic, all attempts to study the Kurds’ ethnographic development, their historical way of life, the works they have created from the past to the present, and their social, political, educational, linguistic, religious, cultural, and internal dynamics have been blocked; and they have been subjected to relentless policies of assimilation, denial, and erasure, as if they were to be wiped from the pages of history.

One of the main reasons for these pressures is the paranoia and fear of division.

It is this paranoia that led to the Kurds being called "Mountain Turks" because of the sound they make while walking in the snow “card-wolf” Because of their voices, they have miraculously become Kurds.

In the Republican era, history books—penned by so-called "illustrious" and "renowned" professors at the behest of the junta, and written in a manner that was thoroughly racist, chauvinistic, and devoid of historical accuracy, decency, and moral values—contain not a single mention of the Kurds.

Yet the Kurds fought shoulder to shoulder with the Ottomans in every war from the empire’s founding to its collapse, sacrificing their blood and lives.

From Morocco to Tunisia, and from Algeria to Vienna, Kurdish militia forces fought alongside Ottoman troops on horseback and played a major role in the establishment of a vast empire.

That is why Said Nursi (Said-i Kürdi), the Islamic scholar of the century and the age, “I cannot fire a bullet at the children of a nation that has carried the banner of Islam for 600 years” he said.

Both during the Ottoman period and the Republican era, numerous foreign historians and Orientalists traveled to regions inhabited by Kurds and conducted research; however, acting in accordance with the future political interests of their own governments, they sought to obscure the truth.

By attempting to cast the Kurds into a historical abyss, there has been a deliberate effort to erase them from history.

In compiling this modest work, I have endeavored to adhere as closely as possible to standards of objectivity and fairness, seeking to shed light on the history of the Kurds, their millennia-long coexistence and brotherhood with the Turkish nation, the schemes orchestrated by imperialist states against these two ancient nations, the bloodbath they have sought to create in the Middle East to secure a sea of oil, and all the details surrounding these events.

Undoubtedly, just as all works are subject to criticism, open to criticism, and may contain errors, this modest study of mine is also fully open to criticism and may contain errors.

Yet, as a mortal like all living beings, I have always defended the social peace, social justice, unity, advanced democracy, and universal justice of my country and my people throughout my literary career.

I wrote this to fulfill my duty to my people and my country, despite all the hardships I am facing, because I want to stand before God’s judgment seat tomorrow with a clear conscience, head held high, and a clear conscience.

Tomorrow, my son Cem will tell me;

‘Dad!”

’What did you do in this family feud?"

”I wrote that so he wouldn’t say it,” he said.
