There are periods in politics when the dust mingles, momentary anger overrides reason and the activity in the shop window hides the deeper waves.
It is precisely from this perspective that we need to look at the turbulent process that the Republican People's Party is going through today. Due to our age, years of experience and knowledge, we have already learned not to be fooled by these momentary bubbles of politics.
The strong winds blowing within the party today do not signal the political end of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu; on the contrary, they are the footsteps of a new victory that will confirm how indispensable the political mind he built is.
The reactionary, instant reactionary, populist and feverish climate of daily politics can be tempting at first glance. The dynamics that create the turmoil within the party today are often fed by this reactionary wave. However, the history of politics has repeatedly shown us that reactionary fires flare up quickly but burn out just as quickly. State seriousness, institutional memory and the ability to keep large masses together is a completely different kind of patience. Kılıçdaroğlu is the epitome of that patience and grand strategy.
There is a very basic fact that those who try to overcome Kılıçdaroğlu or criticize the line he represents overlook: The ground on which they do politics today, the culture of alliance and the delicate bridges built with different segments of society are the architectural work of Kılıçdaroğlu himself. At the end of this period, when turmoil, factionalization and internal strife have exhausted the party, the needle will inevitably turn back to that “unifying force”. Because in times of crisis, it is not those who shout at the waves that save the ship, but the experience that keeps the rudder quiet but firm.
The fact that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will emerge from this process with a “victory” is not just a matter of office or seat. It will be the triumph of the “rational and embracing” style of politics he represents over the reactionary and angry politics.
When the internal party dynamics reach a saturation point and the pieces fall into place, this is the picture that will be seen: The opposition has no chance of lasting success except the path paved by Kılıçdaroğlu.
In a country with deep fault lines like Turkey, it is necessary to manage politics not with daily slogans, but with strategies that are woven together. The current tremors within the CHP are like a laboratory where this reality is being tested. The outcome of the experiment is clear: Kılıçdaroğlu's foresight, patience and statesmanship will calm this temporary storm and his political wisdom will be vindicated once again, and more powerfully than before.
This will not be the victory of day-to-day politicians, but of those who believe in history, society and grand strategies.
