Metin Akpınar issued a statement regarding his daughters born out of wedlock, Duygu Nebioğlu and Sevgi Nebioğlu. Akpınar’s statement reads as follows:
“This announcement is directed at my dear people—both those who love me and those who are angry with me—in light of recent developments. I had a one-night stand with someone I met 36 years ago at an artistic event in Antalya. After that incident, we never saw each other again nor did we keep in touch. Twenty-four years later, one day, twin brothers reached out to me and told me that I was their father. Of course, I was very surprised and shaken.”.

According to what I learned from my daughters, they had lived in a children’s home and were adopted by the Nebioğlu family when they were 6 years old. When they turned 20, they wanted to find their biological family. From the moment I first met them, I accepted them as my own children. We all made a mutual effort to maintain our relationship in the healthiest way possible. After our paths crossed in this way, my wife Göksel and I tried to provide them with as much financial and emotional support as we could. After all these years, it wasn’t easy for me to become the father they had been waiting for and hoping for upon receiving this news.
We tried to keep our relationship going by finding our own way. By the time 2023 rolled around, they chose to formalize the bond between us. I had no objections, and the legal proceedings that captured the public’s attention began. During this case, I made no effort to complicate the proceedings.
Once the legal procedures were completed, as of October 13, 2023, Duygu was added to my household registry; her brother will be added as well once the legal process is complete.
From the moment I met my daughters until today, there has been no change in my acceptance of them or in my feelings toward them. This legal proceeding has not had a negative impact on that either.
