Former Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who is under arrest for corruption, made striking allegations of bribery and irregularities against CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress and Chairman Özgür Özel in a 5-hour additional statement he gave to benefit from effective remorse.
”MONEY IN BAGS AND VIP CAR” ALLEGATION: ACCUSATION AGAINST ÖZGÜR ÖZEL
In his statement, Özkan Yalım claimed that Özgür Özel left 200 thousand TL at his house and gave him 1 million TL in cash in Denizli. He also claimed that the 170 thousand euros VIP conversion costs of the luxury car used by Özel were covered by the Uşak Municipality budget under another invoice.
JOB PROMISES TO DELEGATES AND PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION WITH MUNICIPAL RESOURCES
Yalım argued that he bargained with delegates during the congress process and admitted that he collected the CVs of those who supported him via WhatsApp in exchange for the hiring of his children. Yalım also admitted that he used municipality vehicles for personal household transportation and private trips of his family and expressed regret.
INVESTIGATION SPILLS OVER TO MANISA: MUNICIPAL ADVISOR IN CUSTODY
Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Advisor Demirhan Gözaçan, whom Yalım referred to as “the intermediary who delivered the money” in his statements, was detained. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sent the new testimonies in the file, which deepened with allegations of bribery and duplicate invoices, to the Ankara Regional Court of Justice.
