Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun reported that the decision to raise the tolls on highways and bridges as of today has been postponed until January 2024 upon the instructions of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In a statement made on his social media account, Altun noted the following:
“The regulation on highway and bridge tolls as of October 25 has been postponed to January 2024 with the instructions of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. On October 25 (today), the difference in tolls will be refunded to our citizens.’

REFUNDS TO BE MADE TO PAYERS
The new tariff came into effect as of 00.00 at night. The difference in tolls charged today will be refunded to citizens.
UP TO 76.5 PERCENT INCREASE
Highway and bridge tolls were increased by 43.9 percent to 76.5 percent.
According to the announcement of the General Directorate of Highways yesterday evening, the one-way toll on the July 15 Martyrs Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul was increased by 76.5 percent to 15 liras, and the toll on the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge was increased by 75 percent to 35 liras.
The toll for the Osmangazi Bridge, which connects the two sides of the Gulf of Izmit and is part of the Istanbul-Izmir highway, was increased by 52.6 percent to 290 liras, while the toll for the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge was increased by 43.9 percent to 295 liras.
The new amounts will be effective from January 1, 2024.
