Assembly of the Full, Land of the Hungry

The full do not understand the hungry. But the hungry now know very well who the hungry are.

Justice in a country is most nakedly visible on the payroll.
One line says 273.196 TL, the other line says 28.075 TL.
And we still call it “representation”.
MPs will receive 273,196 TL with their increased salaries.
Not enough; retired MPs will “enjoy retirement” with 177,658 TL.
In the same country, minimum wage earners will continue to live below the hunger limit.
“I say ”will continue" because this is no longer a temporary situation, but an institutionalized regime of poverty.

Who will defend whom?
Millions living below the hunger line,
or the MPs who complain at the end of the month that “the salary is not enough”?
Of course the people's representatives will defend it.
But not the people, but themselves.
Because they need to earn more.
Their standard of living must not fall.
Their children should study abroad,
they shouldn't have to worry about their future,
Even their retirement should be one of prosperity.
Minimum wage?
He is already in habituated helplessness.
He is not expected to speak out.
And if it does, there are ready-made prescriptions:
“Patience”, “gratitude”, “sacrifice”...

I even have a suggestion:
Keep the minimum wage, MPs!
If it's not enough, let's campaign.
Let's donate two or three salaries.
Let's put out a tender.
Let's create another consultancy.
Let's add one or two boards.
If not, we can open a new line item called “representation expenses”.
After all, in this country, the full do not understand the plight of the hungry.
He doesn't need to understand.
Because being an MP here is not about being concerned with the people's problems;
is to stand on the backs of the people and watch prosperity.
The poverty talked about in parliament and the poverty experienced on the streets never meet.
One is a fancy sentence on the podium,
the other is an empty pot in the kitchen.
But it's not just about the wage gap.
It's about detachment.
The gap between the represented and the represented.
“The title ”MP of the nation" is now just a business card.

And the bitterest irony is this:
The fate of millions living below the hunger line,
It is determined by the votes of those who extend the limits of satiety a little more with each hike.
The quietest cry of this order echoes in the lives of teachers.
The teacher creates value.
It raises the judges, engineers, doctors and scientists of tomorrow.
It teaches language, thinking, questioning and living together.
But in today's Turkey, thousands of teachers are trying to survive by moonlighting.
He thinks about debt, livelihood, the end of the month.
But the minds you entrust education to;
relaxed, strong and calm.
In developed countries, the salary of an MP is 2-3 times the minimum wage.
We have almost 10 times that.

This difference is not a coincidence; it is the result of a conscious political and institutional choice.
For a 10-fold difference to occur, the decision alone is not enough,
the objection must also have been suppressed.
Trade unions were weakened.
The right to strike was suppressed.
Poverty was normalized with the language of “fate”.
The social state has been replaced by a system of charity.
The elected have become sultans.
Supposedly, national sovereignty was essential.
But they have turned into a class that has taken over the people.
While the people are impoverished,
They were not ashamed of their increasing prosperity, their easy retirement.
When the minimum wage is at the hunger line,
if the deputy's salary is prosperous;
where the elected become the sultan,
is a system in which the people are subjects.
Let's finish the question at the beginning:
Will they defend the wage earner?
The full do not understand the hungry.
But the hungry now know very well who the hungry are.
