When one looks at the past, sometimes one sees not only history. He also sees today.
“Directive” is an old word. But what it describes is actually very familiar. Like the measure inside a person. The part of him that he doesn't break even when no one is looking. Like the silent state of conscience.
Today there is severe unrest in society. People are not only overwhelmed by the struggle to make ends meet. Most of all, they are deeply hurt when they see injustice and the easy rise of unqualified people who are close to power.
The most painful thing is that children and young people see this.
If a young person does not believe that he can get somewhere by working, he will not stay long where he thinks he will not be rewarded for his labor. Because people labor not only for money, but also for a sense of justice.
The Ottoman Empire did not collapse overnight. Wars alone did not destroy the Empire. First, internal order loosened. The fief system weakened. The tax system broke down. The state relied more on taxation to raise money. Some people who were supposed to collect taxes started to think about their own interests, not the state. The burden of the peasants became heavier.
Then merit was corrupted. Not those who did their job well, but those who were close to the powerful came to the fore. At some point, even the Janissary Corps ceased to be the power of the state and turned into a structure that resisted change. The state began to tire not from the outside, but first from the inside.
Debts increased. Then Düyun-u Umumiyeh was established. Imagine... A state becomes a state in which foreigners collect part of its own revenue. How many wounds are more severe than this for a nation?
What we call collapse doesn't often come all at once. People get used to some mistakes. Small compromises become normalized. Silence grows. And then one day society becomes unable to recognize what it has lost and when.
Today, people today are not only overwhelmed by the problem of livelihood. The language of constant tension, the constant state of anger squeezes the soul. Because people cannot think clearly where there is no peace. Societies living with constant anxiety are trying to save the day, not to produce.
But recovery is still possible.
Sometimes it starts with a teacher doing their job properly.
By a judge not bowing.
When a doctor does not lose his conscience.
When a person acts righteously even when no one is looking...
Because the motto is the backbone not only of the state but also of the human being.
It is not only money that sustains a country.
People being able to trust each other.
When that trust is lost,
Even the biggest states start to collapse from within.
And the real collapse of a state begins not when its treasury is empty, but when people lose faith in justice.
