TKP Announces May 1st Program: “Socialism” March in 4 Provinces

The TKP has shared details with the public regarding the rallies it will hold in four major cities as part of this year’s May Day celebrations.

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has announced its programs for May 1, the Day of Unity, Struggle, and Solidarity of the Working Class, in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, and Adana. Under the slogan “Workers, intellectuals, and artists are gathering for socialism,” the rallies will feature speeches by labor representatives and artists.

 

The TKP has shared details with the public regarding the rallies it will hold in four major cities as part of this year’s May Day celebrations. The programs, which will feature speakers from a wide range of sectors—from politics to the arts, and from workshops to construction sites—are as follows:

Istanbul: Address: Kartal Square

The big gathering in Istanbul will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Kartal Square.
Who Is on the Podium? TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan, journalist Barış Terkoğlu, Spokesperson for the Council of Workers’ Representatives Aydaner Aktaş, and General President of the United Retirees’ Union Mahmut Şengül.
Artists: Arda Kavaklıoğlu, Orhan Aydın, Senan Kara, Gülcan Altan, Nejat Yavaşoğlu, An Vokal, and the Brotherhood Against Racism Choir.

Ankara: Voices of Labor at Anıtpark

Workers in Ankara will gather at Anıtpark at 3:00 p.m.
Speakers: Ali Ufuk Arikan, Member of the Central Committee of the TKP; Oğuz Oyan, Member of the Executive Board of the THTM; Arda Yavuz from the TKG; construction worker Murat Tanksavar; and retiree Özden Karataş.
Music: Gizem Gül, Grup Abdal, and Grup Günyüzü.

Izmir: Workers Will Speak at Bostanlı Square

At the rally to be held at 3:00 p.m. in Bostanlı Square in Izmir, the podium will be primarily reserved for workers.
Speakers: Berkay Kemal Önoğlu, Member of the Central Committee of the TKP; Doğan Öçal; textile worker Oktay Yıldız; metalworker Ozan Çayhan; municipal worker Ozan Evcimen; and retiree Gülay Erken.
Artists: Ece-Sinan, Ercan-Gökhan Çağıran, Hale Tüblek, and Hasan Tanay.

Adana: İller Bankası Intersection

The Adana program will begin at 12:30 p.m.
On stage: Savaş Sarı, member of the Central Committee of the TKP; teacher Eylül Çapar; and electrician Özgür Tuna.
Performance: Mersin Viranşehir KDK Rhythm Ensemble.
