We have seen the solar eclipse and the lunar eclipse...
We even saw those who told tales of “holding the moon in one hand and the sun in the other”. But we are not only seeing this eclipse of reason in politics, we are also paying the price.
Come to your senses!
Tomorrow the blade will turn, the handle will turn... There will be elections, the government will change.
When that day comes, there will not be an AK Party mayor, nor a council member, nor those who think they are playing politics by leaning on power...
What you call power is not permanent, but the mark you leave is.
Now I ask as a voter:
Should the person who will be the chairman of the Republican People's Party be someone who, as Deniz Baykal, one of the past chairmen, said, “either did not sell or did not try to sell”, or should it be someone who keeps silent, ignores and tolerates everything for the sake of the seat?
The ones who made the party moot in court corridors...
Those who kept silent while allegations of black money were being discussed...
Those who turn a blind eye to those who have been squatting in municipalities won with years of hard work...
Those who remained silent while bribes and boxes of baklava were flying in the air...
Those who cannot show a single disciplinary will against those gathered at the hotel gates...
Is this sincerity?
Is this politics?
Or is it a silent acceptance of decay?
So what is Ozgur Ozel telling us?
“Is he saying, ”Don't interfere, I will do my own thing; if necessary, I will burn myself and anyone who gets in my way"?
“Is this a style of politics that says, ”I'll do it, you know... I'll burn down Rome"?
Remember:
Those who start fires also burn.
But first it burns around it.
Politics is not done in anger.
Politics is not done with ambition.
Politics is not done with blind loyalty to Ekrem İmamoğlu and Özkan Yalım.
Politics is about accountability.
Politics is about responsibility.
And most importantly:
Politics is about using the power given to you not to protect yourself but to stop the rot.
