Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) held an extraordinary meeting regarding the increase in public transportation fares.
IBB's proposed hike was unanimously approved, with the objection of the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
With the increase, the full boarding fee increased from 9.90 TL to 15 TL.
In addition, the taxi opening fee was increased by 75 percent from 40 TL to 70 TL.
With the increase, minibus fares will vary between 12 TL and 15 TL depending on the distance. Minibus student fare has been set at 8 TL.
Changes were also made in school bus fees. 0-1 KM monthly fee increased from 792 TL to 1200 TL. Personnel shuttle fees were also increased from 422.40 TL to 640.40 TL for vehicles with a capacity of 10-17 seats.
With these decisions, there has been a significant increase in public transportation and taxi fares in Istanbul.
