I would like to explain why I am supporting Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu today, even though I have criticized him in the past.<\/p>\n
First, let me explain why I\u2019m criticizing this.<\/p>\n
During my time at the Bak\u0131rk\u00f6y Municipality, I served as a council member and as deputy mayor for six months. I also served as the coordinator of the Leyla Gencer Opera and Arts Center for two years. Our work in the fields of culture, the arts, social life, and sports was well-received and recognized both in Bak\u0131rk\u00f6y and on international platforms.<\/p>\n
Armed with this experience, I began working toward becoming mayor of Adalar, my second home. While serving as a council member, I developed projects for Adalar. I met with women, young people, seniors, academics, journalists, shopkeepers, summer residents, winter residents, and workers. I asked everyone the same question: \u201cWhat do you want for Adalar?\u201d<\/p>\n
Since the Metropolitan Municipality was controlled by a different party at the time, the Adalar were practically treated like a stepchild. I was aware of this, and I wanted to rally the public\u2019s support behind me. We collected 2,500 signatures in a district with a population of 10,000. These signatures were delivered to Mr. Kemal by 20 of our female supporters.<\/p>\n
As far as I\u2019ve been told, Mr. Kemal praised this work and even said, \u201cMr. Ekrem was here an hour ago. I told him to put together a team of women. Mr. Nurhan has succeeded in doing so, and I congratulate him.\u201d.<\/p>\n
At the time, I was considered one of the front-runners. However, things turned out differently. A candidate was nominated who didn\u2019t know the Adalar district, had no ties to it, and wasn\u2019t even a party member. As a result, the hard work and rights of the 11 prospective candidates\u2014including myself\u2014were disregarded.<\/p>\n
The result is clear. Adalar, one of Turkey\u2019s most important and unique districts, has not been managed as it deserves. Adalar, an important center with its multicultural fabric, its gateway to Europe, and its historical significance, has unfortunately been mismanaged. That is why I criticized Mr. Kemal. I believed I was right back then, and I stand by that today.<\/p>\n
So why am I supporting it today?<\/p>\n
Because the issue at hand today is much bigger than any individual. The situation that has emerged within the CHP is not merely a matter of political rivalry. Allegations, debates, and practices that are incompatible with the values the party has championed for years are now at the forefront.<\/p>\n
For me, the issue is not about Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu personally. The issue is for the CHP to once again become a trustworthy, competent, honest, and clean organization. The millions of people who vote for the CHP do so not out of self-interest, but because of their belief in democracy, the rule of law, and clean politics.<\/p>\n
For this reason, it is not so much the individuals who should be questioned today, but rather the mindset that has brought the system to this point. Regardless of the discussions at the party convention, court rulings, or the office of the party chair, I believe the CHP needs to reevaluate itself.<\/p>\n
My support is not directed at any one person; rather, it is aimed at helping the CHP return to its core values, get back on track, and continue on its path with a team of competent individuals who love their country.<\/p>\n
That is why I am supporting Kemal K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu today\u2014because I believe the CHP needs to regroup and that a clean approach to politics must prevail.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
