At the Republican Teachers\u2019 Congress held in Ankara on April 12, 215 education workers from more than 30 provinces gathered. The draft resolutions of the congress will be shared with the public shortly.<\/p>\n

At the Republican Teachers\u2019 Congress, held in Ankara at the call of the Teachers\u2019 Initiatives of the Turkish People\u2019s Representatives Assembly (THTM), 215 education workers from more than 30 provinces gathered.<\/p>\n

The convention, held at the Nergiz Culture and Arts Center as part of the Republican Party Convention scheduled for June, was also attended by many provincial and district leaders of the Education Workers' Union.<\/p>\n

At the convention, where the opening address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Erhan Nal\u00e7ac\u0131, a member of the Secretariat of the Republican Convention Coordination Committee, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Prof. Dr. R\u0131fat Ok\u00e7abol for his significant contributions to the struggle for equality and freedom among education workers.<\/p>\n

Certificates of appreciation were presented to Niyazi Altunya and Erdal \u00c7al\u0131, two of the founders of E\u011fitim-\u0130\u015f.<\/p>\n

The morning session addressed the topic \u201cWhat Will Education Be Like in the Workers\u201d Republic?\u201d.
\nThe session, during which dozens of education workers spoke, continued with contributions from the participants.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon session, a panel moderated by Seher Ergin, General Secretary of E\u011fitim-\u0130\u015f, and featuring Prof. Dr. Ahmet Y\u0131ld\u0131z and Dr. Nazl\u0131 Somel as speakers The topics discussed were \u201cEducation and Modernization in the Republican Era\u201d and \u201cThe Historical Roots and Current Actors of the Transformation of Public Education into a Fragmented System in Turkey.\u201d The session concluded with a question-and-answer period.<\/p>\n

In the forum session, the final segment of the conference, the topic \u201cHow can a republican teacher identity be built?\u201d was discussed with contributions from education workers under the moderation of Dr. Nurcan Korkmaz and Prof. Dr. Ayhan Ural. The creation of an anti-imperialist, patriotic, public-oriented, enlightenment-oriented, and secular teacher identity emerged as a central focus of the discussions.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded after the presiding committee read the draft resolution and put it to a vote.<\/p>\n
