Therefore, the first thing he would have done in the face of today's controversies would not have been to cover up the issue, but on the contrary, to put it under the magnifying glass.<\/p>\n
K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu's reflex is clear: \u201cNo matter who the thief is, he must be confronted.\u201d This principle is not meaningful only when it is directed against rival parties; the real test is when allegations are made against his own municipalities. If the same toughness is not shown towards their own cadres, then it is not a principle but a political tool. K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu's emphasis on \u201cservant's rights\u201d, which he has often emphasized in the past, could not remain mere words in such a situation.<\/p>\n
In such a situation, the steps he would have taken would not have been delayed: First, a call for an independent audit, then the dismissal of the named mayors and opening the way for the judicial process... Because the real cleansing of a party is possible not by hiding the guilty, but by exposing them. A structure that ignores the rot within itself cannot promise justice to the public.<\/p>\n
However, the issue is not limited to a few municipalities. The real problem is that over time local governments turn into small spheres of power. Power corrupts when it is unchecked, and corruption becomes inevitable when accountability disappears. If the CHP fails this test of local power, it will also weaken its claim to aspire to central power.<\/p>\n
Under K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu's leadership, the message would probably be harsh and shocking: \u201cNo one can commit crimes by hiding behind the party.\u201d This attitude may cause discomfort within the party in the short term, but in the long term it would build trust. Because the public wants to see politics that pays the price, not just talk.<\/p>\n
The biggest dilemma in Turkish politics today is that everyone says they are against corruption, but when it comes to their own circles, they remain silent. If the CHP cannot break this cycle, it cannot avoid becoming a part of the system it criticizes. And if K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7daro\u011flu were still in office today, perhaps his biggest test would be to look in the mirror of his own party.<\/p>\n
