It is not just a comparison of speed and slowness; it is also a question of method, character and vision of the future. In today's world, on the contrary, the stories of rabbits are more often told-under the spell of speed, of sudden leaps, of short-term gains.<\/p>\n
Yet the socio-economic and political situation we live in reminds us of the value of turtles.<\/p>\n
Politics has accelerated in recent years. Decisions are taken by narrower cadres, in shorter periods of time and often without any basis for debate. There is a similar trend in the economy: rapid growth targets, instant solutions, policies that save the day... But this speed often leaves sustainability, social balance and institutional wisdom behind. The rabbit runs, but the road itself gets lost.<\/p>\n
The turtle represents something else: patience, accumulation, institutionalization and common sense. Real development builds on slow-building structures such as strong institutions, an independent judiciary, transparent governance and participatory democracy. These are not quick results, but they are lasting. Their stories are long because their paths are real.<\/p>\n
This loss of balance is at the root of the crises in many societies today. Economic fluctuations, income inequality, youth despair, meritocracy debates... None of this happened overnight. They are all the consequences of abandoning the path of the tortoise and following the speed of the hare.<\/p>\n
At the political level, there is a more critical break: declining participation and centralization of decisions. Democracy, by its very nature, is a slow process. It requires discussion, compromise, pluralism. This \u201cslowness\u201d is actually the insurance of the system. When you disable this insurance, you gain speed, but you lose direction.<\/p>\n
What we need today is not speed itself, but accuracy of direction. Not to move faster, but to move more accurately. Not to make more decisions, but to make better decisions. Not to speak louder, but to listen more.<\/p>\n
Turtles have long stories because they actually walk the road. Rabbits often talk about the race, but forget about the road itself.<\/p>\n
Maybe it comes down to this question: Do we want a quick conclusion or do we want to be part of a long story?<\/p>\n
