As Antonio Gramsci pointed out, power rests on two pillars: force and consent. Force is the power of the state, the law and the security apparatus. Consent is the acceptance produced through media, discourse and perception management.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On a global scale, this balance is more visible than ever. While states are consolidating their military and economic power, they are also constructing their own \u201crealities\u201d through media and digital platforms. Wars are no longer won on the field, but on screens, headlines and algorithms.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In Turkey, this equation appears more naked. For a long time, political power has been expanding its sphere by using both the instruments of coercion (judiciary, bureaucracy, security apparatus) and the mechanisms of consent production (media, public discourse, agenda-setting power) together. While this increases the sustainability of power, it also narrows the space for social debate. Because as the production of consent becomes stronger, criticism is either marginalized or rendered invisible.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>But the real breaking point is not here. The real issue is that this model is reproduced not only in the general government but also in internal party power struggles. Political parties, which should be spaces for democratic competition and diversity of opinion, are increasingly turning into small-scale \u201claboratories of power\u201d.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Those who wield power within the party often take both paths:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>-Difficult:<\/strong> Delisting, dismissal, exclusion<\/div>\n<div><strong>-Consent:<\/strong> Media visibility, discourse control, definition of the \u201cright line\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Thus, internal party opposition is either silenced or pushed out of the system. When loyalty is tied to the person rather than the principle, merit is withdrawn and replaced by \u201charmony\u201d.
