One does not see reality as it is.
\nHe sees the way his mind is set up.
\nAnd most of the time they don't realize it.<\/p>\n
It is not a coincidence that two people watching the same news report reach completely different conclusions.
\nKnowledge is often enough.
\nIt is how the mind processes that information that makes the difference.<\/p>\n
Plato's cave makes this clear.
\nImagine people who are fixed from the moment they are born. They cannot turn their heads. They look at the wall in front of them. A fire burns behind them. Objects passing in front of that fire cast shadows on the wall.<\/p>\n
They grow up watching those shadows.
\nAnd in time the shadows become their reality.<\/p>\n
They have seen nothing else.
\nThey have no world to compare.<\/p>\n
This is how the mind works.
\nWhatever we saw in childhood, whatever we heard over and over again, whatever emotions we grew up with...
\nThey are all recorded as \u201ctrue\u201d.<\/p>\n
Then one of them is unchained. He stands up. He turns his head and sees the light for the first time.<\/p>\n
But this is not a comforting moment.
\nOn the contrary, it is disturbing.
\nBecause what he sees does not fit the world he knows.<\/p>\n
When one first comes into contact with reality, one is not at peace.
\nThe mind demands consistency.
\nIt wants to protect what it is used to.<\/p>\n
So new knowledge is first bent and twisted.
\nThey try to fit into the old mold.
\nIf it does not fit, it is rejected.<\/p>\n
The person who comes out doesn't understand immediately.
\nThey are dazzled.
\nFirst he selects shadows, then reflections, then objects...
\nFinally, the light itself.<\/p>\n
The truth does not just open.
\nOne builds it step by step.<\/p>\n
But this is where the real break comes.
\nBecause one does not only learn the new.
\nHe realizes that what he used to think was right may be wrong.<\/p>\n
This is not an easy thing.
\nThis is man standing against his own mind.<\/p>\n
And most people don't do that.<\/p>\n
Even though he knows the truth, he chooses what he is used to.
\nIt goes back to the same relationships.
\nHe repeats the same mistakes.
\nIt takes refuge in the same thought patterns.<\/p>\n
Because what is familiar, even if it is wrong, inspires confidence.<\/p>\n
The person who came out of the cave returns.
\nHe wants to explain but cannot be understood.<\/p>\n
Because those who remain inside are still looking at the same system.
\nFor them shadows are real.<\/p>\n
New knowledge disrupts the established order.
\nAnd human beings do not easily accept something that disrupts their order.<\/p>\n
Today everyone has a cave.
\nPatterns from the family, what is learned from society, what the media repeats...<\/p>\n
They all build a model in the mind.
\nOne looks through that model, evaluates, decides.<\/p>\n
That is why people living in the same country see the same event differently.
\nIt is not a question of intelligence.
\nIt is a matter of perspective.<\/p>\n
And there is a question that most people never ask: Do I see the truth?
\nor that I'm used to it?<\/p>\n
When this question is not asked, the model is preserved. When the model is preserved, nothing changes.<\/p>\n
It is easy to live in darkness.<\/p>\n
The difficult thing is to realize that what you think is light is actually shadow.<\/p>\n
