Mistakes are made, practiced and defended in this country.
\nBut when someone says, \u201cThere is a problem here,\u201d the discussion suddenly changes direction.
\nIt is no longer a question of the decision itself, but of who made that sentence.<\/p>\n
Because the real problem in Turkey is not what is happening,
\nwhat is made visible.<\/p>\n
A journalist records a situation and his \u201cintentions\u201d are questioned.
\nAn academic objects, his \u201cposition\u201d is discussed.
\nA politician speaks openly and is declared a \u201cmisfit\u201d.
\nA civil servant reminds the legislation and becomes a \u201ctroublemaker\u201d.<\/p>\n
Silence is always safe.
\nIt is accepted as long as it does not disrupt the flow.<\/p>\n
Look at the recent past.
\nThere was a name that early on voiced a picture that everyone knew, that was in the documents, that was later confirmed piece by piece.
\nWhat they said was confirmed over time.
\nBut what was discussed that day was not the painting, but why that person spoke.<\/p>\n
The same practices are still in place today.
\nThe price remained on the promisee.<\/p>\n
Because in this system problems are tolerated,
\nbut the problems are not addressed.<\/p>\n
Objection has a knock-on effect.
\nOne sentence calls for another sentence.
\nAnd he wants to be held accountable.
\nThat is precisely why it is disturbing.<\/p>\n
This order praises harmony.
\nIt considers management as wisdom.
\n\u201cIt turns the phrase \u201dnot the time\" into a management tool.<\/p>\n
Those who do not speak are \u201creasonable\u201d,
\nthose who speak are found \u201ctoo much\u201d.<\/p>\n
But it is time to say this truth out loud:
\nIt is not the opposition that destabilizes a country,
\nis the systematic suppression of dissent.<\/p>\n
This is what Turkey needs today,
\n\u201cnot \u201dlet's get by\" politics,
\nis to build an accountable, transparent and courageous political line.<\/p>\n
Democracy is not a concept that is remembered only on polling day.
\nDemocracy is only possible when those who can stop wrongdoing are protected.
\nIt is possible only in a system where those who speak the truth are not left alone.<\/p>\n
I am making a clear call from here:
\nPolitics must organize courage, not silence.
\nThe opposition must defend truth, not conformity.
\nSociety is not for those who \u201ctalk too much\u201d,
\nwho protect those who do not speak at all.<\/p>\n
Because this country needs it,
\nnot new balances,
\nis a fair confrontation.<\/p>\n
The cost of speaking the truth in a country,
\nhigher than the cost of erroneous decisions
\nthere is no justice there;
\nThere is an order sustained only by fear.<\/p>\n
That order changes.
\nBecause every objection that is suppressed,
\none day it will become an organized voice.<\/p>\n
And when that day comes,
\nnot who survives in silence,
\nwho speaks at the risk of paying the price
