Democrat Party (DP) Izmir MP Salih Uzun and Istanbul MP Cemal Enginyurt have decided not to take part in the congress to be held this weekend.<\/p>\n

The Democratic Party is going to congress on November 17th. DP Istanbul MP and DP Izmir MP Salih Uzun, who argued that the congress date was taken in a hurry and would not benefit the party and the country, announced in a joint statement that they will not take part in the new party administration to be formed at the congress.<\/p>\n

Uzun and Enginyurt's joint statement is as follows:<\/p>\n

\u201cAs it is known; Although it has a legal period until March 2025, the Democratic Party is being taken to a \u201chasty\u2019 grand congress on November 17, 2024.<\/p>\n

This congress decision taken with an incomprehensible \u201cfait accompli\u201d will neither benefit our party nor bring hope to center-right politics. It is clear that it does not coincide with the need and search for the long-awaited regrouping of our community.<\/p>\n

Although we have repeatedly stated that the congress to be held should be reconsidered in a way that can provide a lifeblood to our party and the opposition in our country, and for this reason, the date of the congress should be changed, our request has been persistently ignored.<\/p>\n

The party management and committees that will be formed with such an approach will be detached from the historical mission and obligations of the Democratic Party from the very beginning. The issue is undoubtedly not a matter of a calendar, but a matter of understanding.<\/p>\n

As a result, we would like to respectfully inform the public and the Democratic Party community in advance that we will not be a candidate for any board membership in the congress to be held and that we will not take any duty in the party administration to be formed with this approach.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Will the search for \u2019center-right unity' come to an end?<\/h3>\n

Cemal Enginyurt and Salih Uzun have been working for some time to achieve unity in the center-right by negotiating with the parties.<\/p>\n

The political preferences of the two names who announced that they will not take part in the party administration are expected to become clear in the coming days.
