Stating that it meets approximately 43 percent of its electrical energy consumption from renewable sources, \u00dclker also announced that it has launched a carbon management program covering the entire value chain, from sustainable raw material procurement to packaging management, logistics management and waste recycling. Drought in the Lake Tefe region in the northern Amazon jungle has led to a disaster in which at least 140 river dolphins have died. Dead dolphins washed ashore or drifting on the waters reveal the devastating impact of extreme weather events on wildlife.<\/p>\n
Authorities say they are experiencing the most severe drought in 13 years and are worried that the death toll of river dolphins will rise.<\/p>\n
The Brazilian government has launched an emergency operation to investigate dolphin deaths and rescue endangered animals. Brazil's Environment Ministry said there were signs that historic drought and high temperatures were leading to the death of fish and mammals living in rivers.<\/p>\n
