\u2018The court responded to the objection to the detention of TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanarda\u011f, who was unlawfully arrested on charges of \u2019making propaganda for a terrorist organization\u201c after his words, which he used in his program \u201d4 Questions 4 Answers' to express his view that the AKP was preparing a new solution process with Abdullah \u00d6calan, were taken out of context and circulated on social media.<\/p>\n
According to Cumhuriyet, TELE1 Editor-in-Chief Merdan Yanarda\u011f's appeal against his arrest was once again rejected.<\/p>\n
WHAT HAPPENED?<\/strong><\/p>\n On June 25, Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an ex officio investigation against journalist Merdan Yanarda\u011f for \u201cpraising crime and criminal\u201d and \u2018making propaganda for a terrorist organization\u2019, citing his statements about PKK leader Abdullah \u00d6calan on his TV show.<\/p>\n On June 27, Yanarda\u011f was detained after the broadcast by police officers who came to the channel's office during the broadcast and was taken to Vatan Security Directorate for questioning.<\/p>\n Yanarda\u011f was questioned by Ebru Baran Celep, one of the prosecutors of the Terror and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, and was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on June 28 with a request for arrest.<\/p>\n Yanarda\u011f testified to Ramazan \u00c7i\u00e7ek at Istanbul 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace and was arrested on charges of \u2019making propaganda for a terrorist organization\u2018.<\/p>\n Yanarda\u011f's detention was objected to by his lawyer Bilg\u00fctay Hakk\u0131 Durna at the Istanbul 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace. The objection was rejected by the Istanbul 31st Criminal Court of First Instance. The court cited \u2018suspicion of flight' as the reason for rejecting the objection.<\/p>\n The indictment against Yanarda\u011f on charges of \u201cmaking propaganda for a terrorist organization\u201d and \u201cpraising crime and criminals\u201d with a prison sentence of up to 10 years and 6 months was accepted today.
