With the depreciation of the Turkish Lira, the world-famous Swiss Schindler joined the ranks of foreign investors and companies that have entered Turkey or want to strengthen their presence by buying partnerships and shares one after the other.
The Swiss giant, one of the 3 most important elevator and escalator manufacturers in the world, has decided to expand its operation in Turkey.
According to an article by Kerim Ülker from Dünya, Switzerland's Schindler has come to the table with Omsan, one of Turkey's first elevator companies, and wants to buy the entire Turkish company. If the deal is finalized, this will be Schindler's second most important acquisition in Turkey.
Founded in 1874, Schindler Group operates in more than 140 countries around the world. Schindler, which has production facilities in countries such as Brazil, China, Spain, India and the USA, is one of the first foreign companies to enter Germany. Another feature of the company is that it was the first western industrial company to enter China in 1980. The company has 66 thousand employees and a turnover of 10 billion dollars.
Production in Gebze
Schindler, which has been operating in Turkey for a long time, took a big step by acquiring Türkeli Asansör, which was established in 1947, in 1992.
The company, which has been working as Schindler Türkeli Asansör Sanayi A.Ş. since that year, operates with 100 percent Swiss capital. The Swiss giant will make this acquisition through its Turkish unit, Schindler Türkeli Asansör. Omsan, which Schindler will acquire, is managed by Mehmet Rıza Çukurova, Berat Burak Çukurova and Ayşe Yeşim Makar.
Founded in 1948, Omsan entered the elevator industry in 1975. The company has 180 employees in its 7,500 square meter production facility in Gebze.
