Although they say in their statements that “CHP is no longer Atatürk's party”, we know that the founding values and symbols of the republic have always been the target of the Ikhwanists. Today, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's planned notification to the Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Public Prosecutor's Office shows how this conspiracy will take shape.
The Chief Prosecutor's Office does not have the authority to make a request, but with this provocative notification it will leave the task of carrying out a coup against democracy in the Supreme Court's lap. If the Court of Cassation takes note of this notification, the matter will escalate. If the Court of Cassation takes legal action, this time the matter will be brought to the Constitutional Court with the demand to shut down the CHP.
If CHP is still the first party in 2027, they will carry out this attack too
Let us first look at the basis of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's notification:
“Since it has been understood that the ballot box data was improperly disseminated by the legal entity of the Republican People's Party, it will be sent to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Court of Appeals for the appreciation of the necessity within the scope of Articles 68 and 69 of the Constitution and the Political Parties Law No. 2820’.
In the articles cited, it is seen that the ‘requirement‘ is ’closure penalty‘. Akın Gürlek and his team do not directly file a ’closure case' or even request one.
Political Islamists seem to have once again planned an insidious and long-term conspiracy. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office does not have the authority to shut it down anyway, and even if it did, they would calculate that such an attempt through someone like Akın Gürlek, whose cooperation with the People's Alliance is so obvious, would not be credible in the public opinion. That is why they will throw the ball to the Supreme Court of Appeals. Then they will keep this issue on the agenda by using the partisan media, troll army and political pressure mechanisms on the Supreme Court. This way, they will be able to wear down the CHP until the general elections they plan to hold in 2027. They realize that the CHP is still the first party in opinion polls. Then they will not hesitate to resort to this Russian roulette.
There are not one but three ways to shut down
And if this judicial process works, how can it work?
Political parties can be sued for closure in three ways. One possibility is to open the case ex officio. Following this notification, the Court of Cassation can go this way and file a closure case against the CHP.
The second method is for the Minister of Justice to file a lawsuit... If the Council of Ministers takes a decision, the Minister of Justice can file a lawsuit to shut down the CHP. Since the Council of Ministers in the Presidential Government System (CHS) exists only in words and not in practice, this decision will be implemented by ‘Erdoğan's instruction’.
There is another way: another party with a parliamentary group can file a lawsuit. The AKP, MHP or another party may apply to the Supreme Court of Appeals with a decision taken by their central organs. Most likely, if it comes to this, the MHP will be given the task of filing the case.
If the conspiracies are not credible, drown politics in conspiracies!
Since these judicial operations are no longer credible not only among CHP or other opposition parties' voters, but also among AK Party and MHP voters, and since they have both consolidated the CHP and increased its vote since March 19, they are causing the People's Alliance staff to raise their hands.
They know that if they take a step back from now on, they will be turned upside down! For this reason, they have no choice but to continue with the series of insidious and dangerous conspiracies over the long term. More lawsuits, more detentions and arrests, more complex and difficult to follow files will continue to be brought to the agenda by the judiciary.

The problem for them is that every attack is now perceived as a conspiracy. For this reason, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office feels obliged to make a statement like ‘I didn't do it, the others will do it’.
aHaber, the biggest provocateur of the partisan press, immediately jumps in and lends its support:
“Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared a 3,900-page indictment against Ekrem İmamoğlu Crime Organization. In this indictment, a notification was made to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Court of Appeals due to the fact that the CHP, as a total administration, consciously acted in partnership with İmamoğlu, who abused public resources and benefited from the proceeds of crime. Many opposition media outlets, especially Sözcü newspaper, and trolls have tried to cover up the crimes of profiteering-bribery-corruption by initiating perception studies on social media as ‘a closure case is being filed against CHP’”.

As a result, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office made a written statement in response to the outcry: “The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office of the Supreme Court of Appeals has been notified for the appreciation and execution of the necessary actions against the political party in accordance with Articles 68 and 69 of the Constitution and Articles 101 and following of the Law No. 2820 on Political Parties, based on the findings that the CHP has systematically and continuously intervened in order to influence the reliability of the elections held across the country and locally, the will of the voters and the democratic order. As stated in some media organs, there is no demand for the closure of the party.’ The statement makes no sense other than a manipulation to cover up the conspiracy.
What if the CHP does not fray and becomes stronger?
The lion in the hearts of both political Islamists and American racists is to shut down the CHP. However, this is not an easy task for the AK Party, which claims to be ‘against party closures’ since its foundation.
The MHP may take a clearer stance, but this time its base may cause problems. Because, one way or another, the MHP has a base that upholds some, if not all, of the founding values of the republic, and shutting down the founding party that brings these founding values to life is not a burden that can be taken lightly. This People's Alliance had to side-step the issue of shutting down even the HDP...
However, it is obvious that for two years they saw this ‘closure’ process as an opportunity to divide the CHP's power, to prevent its attacks and, if possible, to create a split within the party. If they did not think so, they would not have attempted to make this notification through the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
This last shot of gunpowder came out of the pouch early
The months-long process of ‘canceling the congress’ had led to the CHP becoming largely deadlocked and on the verge of a split. The CHP could have lost blood if the party cadres had not been consolidated thanks to the extraordinary performance of Özgür Özel, the party's leader until today.
However, the calculation in the house of the People's Alliance did not fit the market! CHP did not lose blood, on the contrary, it increased its support. Especially that ridiculous trustee move strengthened party unity. Thanks in part to the incompetent Gürsel Tekin and his team...
Most likely, this ‘closure case’ issue will both reinforce the CHP's unity and radicalize its way of doing politics. In other words, another insidious plot will cause the AK Party and MHP to lose votes.
Maybe Ekrem İmamoğlu will not be a presidential candidate in 2027. The government can keep İmamoğlu in jail, this is true. But what will they do with Mansur Yavaş, who has a vote potential three to four points higher than İmamoğlu, as the polls show?
Let's say they banned him from politics with a thousand and one conspiracies. Özgür Özel would easily win the election against Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. What's more, even if they ban Özel, there is now a possibility that any CHP metropolitan mayor could outpace Erdoğan in the polls!
What they think is leverage could sink the country
This is the situation; not only the AK Party and MHP are melting, but also the charisma of the AK Party leader in the eyes of conservative voters. This is how today's notification move should be read; as a last option, to hold the trump card of shutting down the CHP just before the early elections.
What they don't realize is that what they think is a trump card will create the biggest political, economic and social crisis in the history of the Republic of Turkey, and that the AK Party and the MHP will be left under the rubble...
It's not a problem if they were the only ones, but what this country, which has never been able to get out of the economic and political crisis, will lose after such a crisis...
