February 2026 will be the date when ten thousand prospective teachers will start the National Education Academy, the first step towards becoming a teacher, after completing security investigations and archive searches.
The security investigation and archive search is expected to take at least a month.
When the security investigation and archive search are over and training begins at the academy, a challenging process awaits prospective teachers in both theoretical and practical terms.
The training and evaluation process at the Academy is regulated in Article 10 of the Law on the Teaching Profession. According to this article, there will be at least two written exams for each theoretical course in the preparatory education, and those with a grade point average of sixty out of one hundred and above in each course will be considered successful. Those who fail in the theoretical courses will be given the right to take an additional exam for each course they fail, and those who score sixty or above in the additional exam will be considered successful in the relevant course. Those who fail any course at the end of the additional exams will be dismissed from the academy.
In order to determine the level of success in reflecting the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors acquired in the preparatory education to the teaching environment, the teacher candidate will be evaluated three times, and the evaluation will be made by the educational staff responsible for the practice, the director of the educational institution where the practice is carried out and the practice teacher; based on the teaching profession competencies determined by the Ministry, on the evaluation form created by the Academy according to the teaching assignment areas.
The evaluation score will be determined by taking the arithmetic average of the scores given in the evaluation forms filled in separately by the training staff responsible for the application, the director of the educational institution and the practice teacher, and the practical course success score will be determined by taking twenty percent of the first evaluation score, thirty percent of the second evaluation score, and fifty percent of the third evaluation score.
Those who have a practical course success score of seventy and above out of one hundred will be considered successful, and those who fail in practical courses will be dismissed from the academy.
At the end of the preparatory education, forty percent of the arithmetic average of the success grades of the theoretical courses and sixty percent of the arithmetic average of the success grades of the practical courses will be added together to determine the success score for appointment, and the appointments of the teacher candidates will be made by taking this success score into consideration.
The establishment of the Presidency of the National Education Academy, the appointment of the president and other administrative officials, and the assignment of faculty members and teachers to provide training are entirely under the authority of the Ministry of National Education. In this sense, the theoretical exams to be held at the Academy and the practical evaluations to determine the level of success of the prospective teacher in reflecting the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors to the educational environment will be carried out by the educational staff responsible for the practice, the principal of the educational institution where the practice is carried out and the practice teacher.
Candidate teachers will be evaluated by training officers appointed by the Ministry of National Education, school principals appointed by the Ministry of National Education and finally by an evaluation form filled in by the practice teacher.
Considering that the practicum teacher will be assigned by the Academy or the principal of the relevant school, there is no doubt that the candidate teachers to be recruited to the Academy will go through the screening filter of the government.
In this sense, the preparatory education to be provided at the National Education Academy will be at the disposal of the Ministry of National Education, and therefore the AKP government.
