Turkey's development strategy is not only an economic choice, but also a matter of national “security” and “sovereignty”. In the current global system, food has become a more effective tool of domination than a weapon. In this context, encouraging the return to the village and a production mobilization combined with technological breakthrough is the most strategic step to be taken against the “Hegemony of Capital”.
It is on the basis of this vision that an in-depth analysis is needed.
Next Generation Development
Agricultural Renaissance and Technological Sovereignty:
The world economy has entered a phase of “techno-feudalism” in which financial capital suppresses real production and technological monopolies paralyze the decision-making mechanisms of nation states. The way out for countries with strategic depth, such as Turkey, is to move from an import-dependent growth model to a “Self-Sufficient” and “Production Surplus Oriented” model.
1-Return to the Village:
A Sociological and Economic Necessity?
With the food crisis at the door, it is essential that idle village lands are put back into production. However, this should be supported by “Smart Agriculture” (Agriculture 4.0) practices, not traditional methods.
a) Financing Reverse Migration:
The return of unproductive labor from the cities to the villages is possible not only through incentives, but also by raising the living standards of the villages and establishing digital infrastructure.
b) Cooperatives:
In order to ensure that small producers are not crushed by the hegemony of capital, modern cooperative models that are organized end-to-end from production to marketing should be implemented.
2-Capital Hegemony and Technological Barriers:
Global capital wants peripheral countries to remain only as “markets” and “cheap labor”. Technological development is the only way to break this hegemony.
a) Domestic Technology Movement:
Sensors, autonomous tractors and seed breeding studies that will increase productivity in agriculture should be carried out with domestic resources.
b) Financial Shackles:
Instead of growth based on foreign debt, a public banking and strategic planning organization that focuses on production should be re-functionalized.
3-Rediscovery of the Import Substitution Model:
The ’Import Substitution“ model of the 1960s must be adapted to today's high-tech world.
a) Intermediate Goods Production: Imports of intermediate goods, Turkey's biggest deficit, should be replaced with high value-added products to be produced in local industrial zones (OIZs).
b) Energy Independence:
In energy, the biggest cost item for agriculture and industry, renewable resources (solar and wind) should be encouraged and integrated into every unit from villages to factories.
4- Qualitative Transformation in Exports:
“With the principle of ”first feed yourself, then feed the world", once food supply security is ensured, surplus production should be turned into a strategic export item.
a) Branding:
Instead of bulk products, the focus should be on processed and packaged agro-industrial products with high brand value.
b) Strategic Partnerships: Instead of trade routes imposed by global capital, regional cooperation and alternative supply chains should be established.
Honor of Production
Just as honor and dignity cannot be sold with money, a country's independence cannot be protected by depending on someone else's table. When Turkey blends Anatolia's ancient agricultural culture with modern industry and technology, it will not only solve its own problems but also offer an alternative development model to the global order.
Production is the greatest resistance.
