The US Department of Justice has made public an extensive part of the investigation files on billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. Nearly 3 million pages of documents, 180,000 photographs and 2,000 videos shed light on the relationships between politics, business and power centers around the world, but all are still under review.
These files contain new records that link Epstein to past convictions for running a sexual abuse network and engaging in violent crimes. While public figures and political figures from various countries are named in the documents, it is emphasized that the mention of their names does not mean that they are guilty.
The Turkey Connection: Are There “Turks” in the Documents?
a) Names and Allegations from Turkey
In some statements, the names of two women of Turkish origin, “B.K.” and “Banu K.”, are mentioned in the files. Their connection to Epstein, their involvement as victims and their identities remain unclear. Officials have not provided any confirmed details.
b) Social Media and Political Allegations
Allegations spread on social media that some of the files contained statements that underage girls from Turkey were transported in connection with Epstein - but these allegations are not based on official, verified sources.
c) Debates in the World of Politics
In Turkey, some politicians have said they have submitted a parliamentary motion to investigate the Turkish links to the files, which has allegedly been pending for a long time. Another MP also reported that he had asked ministries for information on “possible child victims in the Epstein files”.
Alleged Kidnapping of Children from Turkey
Another claim circulating on social media and in political circles regarding the documents is that the Epstein files include children from Turkey. Some posts claimed that underage children from Turkey were found to be included in Epstein's network in the context of the files; at this stage, these allegations remain context-free speculation, with no official confirmation.
The World Dimension of the Case Outside Turkey
The Epstein files do not only concern Turkey; many politicians, billionaires, businesspeople and celebrities from the US, Europe and the Middle East are named in the files. Some former heads of state, Hollywood figures and the global elite have come under the spotlight on the basis of emails or photographs of him having affairs with them.
None of these people are automatically criminalized; their mention in the documents is more related to contexts such as social contacts, professional relationships or being in the same circles.
Reactions and Reflections in Turkey
Politicians are calling for a thorough examination of the files and clarification of the Turkish connections.
A number of associations and civil society groups are also demanding the expansion of existing investigations in connection with the allegations contained in the files.
Issues such as children's rights and international abuse networks are brought to the public agenda through social media.
Why is it important?
The publication of these files:
It is fueling the global transparency and accountability debate.
It puts the connections of power networks and elite circles in international relations back on the agenda.
In the Turkish context, it triggers debates on children's rights and international criminal networks.
Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office investigation
Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation on December 23, 2025 to investigate the allegations based on a tweet shared by Turhan Çömez, Deputy Group Chairman of the İyi Party, on December 22, 2025.
Çömez wrote the following in his X post:
“The US Department of Justice has made public some of the information and documents in the Epstein case. In these documents, it is written that young girls from Turkey were taken to the island of abuse. It is also noted that the children had difficulties because they did not speak English. In a word, a horrible crime against humanity. Years ago I gave a file on global child abuse gangs to the then Minister of Interior Mr. Aksu and some criminals were caught.”
