The US Genocidal Attempt against Cuba: Stifling Blockade, Open Massacre

Humanity owes Cuba a debt. It is high time to pay that debt.

For 65 years, since the Cuban Revolution, US imperialism has been carrying out one of the longest and most brutal genocidal attempts in history. This is not a policy to be minimized as “just an embargo”; it is a plan to strangle socialism and take over the revolution by condemning the Cuban people to starvation, lack of medicine and fuel through economic, commercial and financial blockade. With Trump's latest decree, even the oil supply has been completely cut off. Hospitals are in darkness, operating rooms are not working, thousands of pregnant women and babies are in danger of death.

While power outages make daily life hell, Cuba's efforts to resist with its own solar energy are admirable: In recent days it has generated over 800-900 megawatts, surviving despite the suffocation of the blockade. But the reality is that this is a clear attempt at genocide; a people is being strangled before the eyes of the world.

During the pandemic, the rotten morality of imperialism was once again exposed in all its nakedness. Cuba sent its doctors to more than 40 countries with the Henry Reeve Brigade; it saved lives, gave hope, and became the epitome of international solidarity in the darkest days of humanity. And what did the US do? It tightened the blockade, increased its militarism, mobilized its troops for war. Bullets instead of doctors, death instead of aid... This is the ’humanitarian“ face of imperialism: On the one hand it strangles oppressed peoples, on the other it tries to consolidate its hegemony with weapons.

The most disgusting face of this rottenness is seen with all its nakedness in the Epstein scandal. The ambassadors of those who attacked Cuba for “bringing democracy” and defended the blockade policies are listed in the file as child abusers. The same hands, the same filth... They are trying to cover up their own darkness while condemning oppressed peoples to starvation. This is not only the economic but also the moral bankruptcy of imperialism.

Cuba is not kneeling. Its people protect their socialism, independence and honor. Because they know that this attack is not only against Cuba; it is against all oppressed peoples, all anti-imperialist resistances, the hope of humanity's liberation. Cuba's resistance is the common cause of all humanity from Latin America to the Middle East, from Africa to Asia.

Humanity owes Cuba a debt. It is high time to pay that debt. It is up to all of us to break the blockade, to put a stop to the attempted genocide, to stand shoulder to shoulder against imperialism. The courage that Cuba has shown from José Martí to today also shows the way today: Solidarity must grow, voices must be raised.

Cuba will win. Imperialism will lose.

Hands off Cuba! Long live the honorable resistance of Cuba!
