We are all disabled today!

As long as we only talk about the problems of people with disabilities “today”, the real obstacle will continue to grow within us.

You know Mahsun Kırmızıgül's song...
“We are all brothers, why this anger,
Why fight when you can live...”

Brotherhood, justice, law, equality...
What about conscience?
Today is the day to look in the mirror of that conscience.
Today is World Disability Day.
And I say today:
We are all disabled!

I know this sentence will be heavy for some people.
“Maybe they will say, ”You are the disabled one".
Yes, maybe I am the physically disabled one.
But the real obstacle;
In the eye that does not see pain,
In the deaf ear,
It is the conscience that does not understand.

You can dress up a day as “awareness”,
I am talking about an understanding that buried 364 days in darkness.
By fitting the problems of people with disabilities into one day,
The next day, occupying the sidewalks again,
Locking the elevators again,
This is a system that puts barriers instead of ramps.

Awareness does not fit in one day!
Empathy cannot be written on an agenda!

At home
On the street
In the market
In front of the television
Whoever can pick up the remote,
But there are some who can't hold a remote control.
Anyone can look at the screen,
But there are others who see the world through darkness.
Most of the time we are looking...
But we don't see it.

I am talking about the mentality that gives flowers today for the day of the disabled and parks them on the sidewalk tomorrow. I am talking about the understanding that gives a stage today and does not give a job tomorrow. I am talking about the conscience that shares today and does not even say hello tomorrow.

As long as we talk about the problems of people with disabilities only “today”, the real obstacle will continue to grow within us.

Disability is not only in the body.
The main obstacle;
It is the paralysis of compassion.
It is the lameness of justice.
It is the blinding of equality.

Today I am starting a trend:
1TP5We are all disabled

Until disabled people are not at the bottom of society,
Until he settles in his most honorable place...
Until their rights are not a handout,
Until it is delivered as a human right.
As long as representation is not for show,
Until it's real...

Until some of us accept that we are physically disabled,
Until some of us realized we were mentally disabled,
Until we learn to empathize.

Yes,
Today we are all disabled.
Because even one day is enough for us,
We are the real obstacle!
