World politics has not crossed such a dark and dangerous threshold for a long time. We are in a period in which international law, the sovereignty of states and the right to life of peoples are increasingly being disregarded. At the center of crises, wars and interventions in many parts of the world today is increasingly the global power politics of the United States of America.
The escalating tension between Iran and Israel in the Middle East, the human tragedy in Gaza, and the US military and political moves in the region are not only a regional crisis. These developments also show that the world is being forced into a new order of power.
Today, the Washington administration, on the one hand, gives unlimited support to Israel, and on the other hand, besieges Iran with military threats and severe economic sanctions. This policy is not leading the Middle East to peace, but on the contrary to an atmosphere of perpetual war.
That is why in many parts of the world the question is being asked more and more loudly:
Does the US really stand for peace, or is it trying to reshape the world according to its own interests?
Humanitarian Tragedy in Gaza and Israel
At the center of the crisis in the Middle East today is Israel's attacks on Gaza.
The destruction in Gaza is not just a military operation; it is also a humanitarian disaster. Cities destroyed by bombardments, hospitals razed to the ground, civilians struggling with thirst and hunger reveal the true face of war.
The majority of the victims of these attacks are civilians, women and children. These attacks, which amount to the collective punishment of a people, also lead to serious debates in terms of international law.
However, Israel has strong political and military support in this process: THE UNITED STATES.
Washington continues to provide Israel with billions of dollars in military aid and vetoes most resolutions at the United Nations that criticize Israel.
This picture reveals a serious double standard in the international system.
War Policy against Iran
Another pillar of tension in the Middle East is Iran.
For many years, the US has besieged Iran with economic sanctions, diplomatic pressure and military threats. The severe sanctions imposed under the pretext of Iran's nuclear program directly affect not only the government but also the Iranian people.
The US plans for a military operation against Iran and the covert operations carried out in cooperation with Israel are pushing tensions in the region to an even more dangerous level.
A possible attack on Iran would not only be between the two countries; it would open the door to a major war that could affect a wide geography from Lebanon to Iraq, Syria to Yemen.
Nevertheless, instead of de-escalating tensions, Washington is pursuing a policy of increasing military pressure.
US Desire to Control the World
US interventionist policies are not limited to the Middle East.
The pressure, economic sanctions and political interventions against Venezuela in Latin America are the clearest examples of this.
Venezuela, which has one of the world's largest oil reserves, has been under economic and political pressure from the US for years. Washington has tried to manipulate the country's domestic politics, supported opposition movements and made various attempts to overthrow the Maduro administration.
These interventions are met with great reaction in Latin America. This is because the peoples of the region are well aware of the bitter consequences of the US interventionist policies of many years.
The US quest for global power is not limited to Latin America.
Greenland: New Imperial Dreams
One of the most debated issues in world politics in recent years has been the US claims over Greenland.
The idea of buying or controlling this huge Arctic island, which is part of Denmark, has been openly expressed by Washington.
Although this proposal may seem extraordinary at first glance, it was actually considered as part of the US global power strategy.
Greenland is a region that attracts the interest of great powers due to its rich natural resources and strategic location. The US desire to control this island was interpreted as a new imperial expansion in world politics.
Coveting the territory of a NATO ally is highly questionable under modern international law.
For this reason, many politicians and academics in Europe have harshly criticized this approach.
The World is Driven to a New Power Struggle
Today's developments remind us of a dangerous reality.
The world is once again witnessing a struggle for dominance by the great powers.
As wars rage in the Middle East, interventions continue in Latin America and struggles for control over new strategic regions, the international system is becoming increasingly fragile.
The US attempts to shape world politics by using its military power and economic sanctions pose a serious risk to global peace.
The Last Word;
The destruction of cities in Gaza, the threats against Iran, the interventions in Venezuela and the claims over Greenland all point to one fact: the world is increasingly being overshadowed by an aggressive power politics.
If international law and diplomacy are not strengthened again, this could open the door to even greater conflicts.
Because history has shown us one truth over and over again: no power is eternal. Just as the order that Hitler wanted to establish, which set the world on fire yesterday, has gone into the dustbin of history, the order that the powers that try to shape the world today through wars, interventions and oppression will not last.
Because the world belongs to the peoples, not to a single power.
The world was not left to Hitler, and it will not be left to the US.
Long live the brotherhood of peoples, long live peace and solidarity.
