Social Decay and Silence of Conscience

Unless society breaks its silence, the conscience will continue to grieve only “a little”. And that “slightly” saddened conscience will one day become completely silent.

A 13-year-old boy kills a 60-year-old man.

Silence.

The difficulties faced by individuals with Down syndrome and the cries of their families are not heard. It is said, “They need blood, they will find it themselves”... Again, silence.

A child goes missing.

The public reaction: “What do I care, is it my child?”

This indifference is not only a lack of conscience, it is the clearest sign of social decay.

Political decay continues to trigger social decay.
Nothing surprises us anymore, nothing upsets us anymore.
Because our emotions are also blunted as part of the system.

A religious culture teacher asks, “What is conscience?” in class.
The 6th grade student's answer summarizes everything:

“When one's inner voice gets a little upset...”

That word “a little bit” actually describes where we are today.
Our conscience feels a little upset, then quickly forgets.
Because we are used to it. Because we are silenced. Because we don't care.

Pensioners cannot make a living.
The minimum wage cannot even pay rent.
Families who cannot give their children pocket money cannot look into the eyes of their children whom they send to school in the morning.
The country has even forgotten to be ashamed of its livelihood.

TurkStat conducts a general agricultural census.
Farmers in villages and districts are in fear.
What is the need for these counts?
You have already established the markets and managed the shelves.
At least build the farms and round up the cattle!
Maybe then inflation and interest rates will fall.

But nothing falls until man confronts his own conscience.
Neither inflation, nor interest, nor anger...

Unless society breaks its silence, conscience will continue to grieve only “a little”.
And that conscience that is “a little bit” upset will one day be completely silent.
