As local elections draw closer, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) continues to be targeted by the pro-government media.
Especially in recent months, the claims that subway stairs and escalators were ‘constantly’ deteriorating in Istanbul were frequently voiced by the partisan press. IBB and IBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu were targeted in these news reports.
SABOTAGE REVEALED
Finally, the images recorded on the Gayrettepe M2 subway line the previous day revealed that the malfunction was sabotage.
In the statement made on IBB's social media account, “The people who sabotaged the escalators of the subway were caught on camera. We are publishing those images reflected on security cameras on the M2 subway line in Gayrettepe at 16:10 today.’.

In the footage, it is seen that two people walking deliberately disrupted the stairs. The reflections of the sabotage on security cameras were shared on the ‘IBB News’ account.
‘POOP’ CONSPIRACY AGAINST BOGIE
Two years ago, it was claimed on social media that Boji, who travels all over Istanbul by public transportation and even has his own card, pooped on the tram.
From the Twitter account opened for Boji, he wrote: “I was in the cabin all day today, I didn't even visit Istanbul. You polluted the tram and blamed it on me, you are bad.” The allegations were denied with a response.
In the video shared by then IBB Spokesperson Murat Ongun, “It was claimed that Boji pooped on the tram. But the cameras showed us these unbelievable images, watch them”, and footage showing that a passenger left the poop was shared.
