The decisive question in social liberation struggles is this:
Who is marching, with whom and on which historical line?
Political, military or diplomatic relations with imperialist powers are often tried to be legitimized on the grounds of “necessity”, “tactics” or “temporary alliance”. However, historical experience clearly shows that no movement that stands side by side with imperialism can be the subject of the real liberation of the peoples.
The claim of independence of a structure that receives its weapons, politics and legitimacy from imperialist centers becomes a hollow discourse from the very beginning. Because imperialism is not a power that distributes freedom; it is a system that produces dependency.
It is not a question of being alone.
It's about who you walk with.
Structural Consequences of Compromise with Imperialism
No political movement that does not confront imperialism and the capitalist capitalist order can bring freedom to oppressed peoples. The historical answer to this is clear:
The results of such movements have been either dependency, repression or, ultimately, betrayal.
This betrayal is not only the work of the imperialist powers. The real responsibility lies with the surrenderist lines that adopt leaning on them as political wisdom. Even if the relations established with imperialism open up areas that look like “gains” in the short term, in the long term, it melts the political subject of the movement, distorts its class orientation and detaches it from the people.
What is happening today is not a temporary defeat or an unfortunate aberration.
These are the inevitable consequences of politics based on imperialism.
The True Path to Liberation: Class and Independence
Freedom of peoples;
Imperialist negotiations,
Temporary alliances,
From the military and diplomatic shadow of the great powers
It isn't;
It arises out of the class struggle against capitalist barbarism from a socialist perspective.
The liberation of the Kurdish laborers is not independent from this historical law.
Liberation does not pass through a line that separates ethnic identity from the class struggle; on the contrary, it passes through a line based on the united, independent and revolutionary organization of the working class, poor laborers and oppressed peoples.
Peace, democracy and brotherhood between peoples;
It is not possible without the struggle against imperialism, reactionary-fascist governments and their political extensions.
“Peace” Discourse and Class Reality
When the concept of peace is detached from its content, it becomes one of the most useful tools of imperialist politics. The rhetoric of “peace, democracy, brotherhood”, when considered independently of class power relations, turns into a distraction for the peoples.
The question is this:
With whom, with which balance of power and from which class position is peace being made?
It is decisive what is gained for the peoples by sitting at the same table with imperialism and reactionary-fascist governments. The experience of recent years has clearly shown that these tables have brought nothing but massacres, liquidation and surrender to the peoples.
What was won at the front was given at the table.
Rojava Experience and Imperialist Alliances
The Rojava process has revealed the nature of imperialist alliances in all its nakedness. Western imperialist powers, especially the US, have used the PYD as a tactical “ally” in the Middle East for years, and abandoned this “alliance” without any hesitation as soon as the balance of interests changed.
As an important spokesperson for the Kurdish movement put it,
“The events in Rojava will be a black stain for the US, the UK, Germany, France and other international coalition states. Why are you exposing your ally to such an attack? This is hypocrisy. The promises made were meaningless.”
The promises made, the agreements made have no binding force in imperialist politics. Because for imperialism, friendship, agreements, promises are not essential, but interests are.
For at least a decade, the United States has been supporting the YPG/PYD/SDF as a “ally” as a man.
In US foreign policy, a friend can turn into an enemy at any moment.
The words of former US Secretary of State Henry KISSINGER are not in vain. The following quote by Henry Kissinger summarizes this reality:
“To be America's enemy is dangerous; to be America's friend is deadly.”
The Historical Cost of Trusting Imperialism
Throughout history, the Kurdish people's struggle for independence and freedom has been repeatedly stifled by the tactic of leaning on powerful states. Experiences from the Jalali Uprisings to the present day show that this line has always left the people with heavy costs.
While the “peace process” in Turkey has resulted in massacres, in Syria, Rojava has become a target in the middle of imperialist calculations. This picture has once again revealed the historical cost of trusting imperialism.
Imperialism and fascism cannot ensure the liberation of the Kurdish people. They are only looking for means to use.
It is a wrong approach to expect the ”establishment of a Kurdish state”, ”Autonomous region” or ”Autonomous region” in Rojava from imperialism and fascism. The aim of this approach is to make the people hopeless and to put surrender as a goal.
If the Kurdish people are to gain independence and be free, this can only be possible through the common will and struggle of the peoples and the attitude against US imperialism and fascism, not by acting with US imperialism.
The Necessity of an Independent Revolutionary Line and the Subject of Liberation
A historical task stands before the Kurdish people and the oppressed peoples of the Middle East:
The subject of liberation; It passes through weaving a line of struggle in a class-oriented, independent and revolutionary line that does not compromise with imperialism.
Independence is not granted.
Freedom is not negotiable.
Liberation can only be won through the revolutionary struggle of organized peoples.
Standing with the Kurdish, Arab and other oppressed peoples resisting imperialist attacks, fascism and reaction in Rojava and the region is the most humane stance today.
It is a historical responsibility to demonstrate this stance not only in words, but also in thought, political choices and in every aspect of life.
Let us take this stance in every field...
