Nurullah Efe sentenced to house arrest

In an incident in Üsküdar today, HKP Chairman Nurullah Efe and his son Hikmet Efe were detained. According to Cumhuriyet, Nurullah Efe, who was referred to the courthouse, was released on house arrest, while his son was given a judicial control condition.

According to the details of the incident, an argument broke out between Recep Aytekin, his wife Hasibe Aytekin and Hatice Arıcıoğlu, HKP Chairman Nurullah Efe and his son Hikmet Efe, who wanted to collect the branches of the pruned trees in the garden of an abandoned building on Ganimet Street in Üsküdar Güzeltepe Neighborhood. According to the allegations, Nurullah Efe stabbed Recep Aytekin in the fight that broke out after the argument.

Nurullah Efe, in his statement given at the police station, claimed that he and Recep Aytekin had a previous enmity and explained how the incident started as follows: “Recep Aytekin and his wife entered the garden of the abandoned building on our street and started cutting the dried trees they had previously cut down with chainsaws and other cutting tools. I watched from above for a while as they talked among themselves that they would also cut green branches. I said, ‘Isn't it haram to cut branches that don't belong to you and take them away?’ They told me that they had permission from the owner. I told them, ‘You are lying, you are enemies of animals, enemies of greenery, enemies of flying birds’.”

Nurullah Efe argued that he and his son Hikmet Efe did not attack anyone with a knife and filed a complaint against the people with whom he had an argument.

The judicial process is ongoing.
