Letter from Enver Aysever: This is my last statement

"Instead of talking about the unlawful trial of a journalist, the main opposition party is occupying the agenda with tabloid issues"

In a letter shared through his lawyer Mikayil Dilbaz, journalist Enver Aysever, who is currently imprisoned in Silivri Prison, wrote: “I am extremely upset after seeing the discussions that have emerged in recent days. The main opposition party is occupying the agenda with tabloid issues instead of addressing the unlawful trial of a journalist.“.

Sabah columnist Mahmut Övür wrote that Enver Aysever called Ekrem İmamoğlu, the imprisoned IBB Mayor and CHP's presidential candidate, and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel “thieves” and did not shake hands with either of them. Aysever's lawyer Mikayil Dilbaz clarified this issue, which was discussed in public. Dilbaz stated that Aysever used the expression “I would not shake the hand of a thief” about İmamoğlu and said to Özel, “If you occupy the only agenda of the party with this issue in order to defend thieves, Mr. General Chairman, I am afraid we will change places.”.

As the debate between Aysever, Özel and Lawyer Dilbaz continued, Aysever made a new statement.

In a statement released through his lawyer under the title “mandatory public statement“, Aysever made the following statements

“I have been unjustly and unlawfully imprisoned in Silivri Prison for some time. Under these circumstances, it is not possible for me to follow social media and the press properly. I am extremely upset after seeing the discussions that have emerged in recent days. The main opposition party is occupying the agenda with tabloid issues instead of addressing the unlawful trial of a journalist. This is my last statement. I will not make any more statements. The statements I made through my lawyer before are within my will. I will make other necessary statements in free days.“
