A Work that Breaks the Memorization from the Pen of İsmail Çetin: Alevism is the Way, Bektashism is Civilization

The book responds to the slanders and distortions that have been directed against Alevis, Bektashis and Tahtacı for years on the basis of documents and reason, without polemics.

“Alevism is the Way, Bektashism is Civilization”, written by İsmail Çetin, has been published by Siyah-Beyaz Publications. The work reexamines the understanding of Alevism, Bektashism and Ahl al-Bayt with a truth-centered perspective, taking it out of ideological patterns, established memorization and false narratives that have been repeated for many years.

İsmail Çetin stated that the untrue information, ideological manipulations and information pollution that have been circulated in the field of Alevism and Bektashism to date should be critically filtered and made evaluations about the work he wrote for this purpose.

In the book, Alevism is defined not as an identity, ethnicity or sect, but as the true path that leads people to God, while Bektashism is positioned as the wisdom experience of the Ahl al-Bayt-centered understanding of Islam that has become civilization, state wisdom and social morality in Anatolia. According to Çetin, the issue is a matter of truth, morality and justice rather than identity debates.

In the work, Ghadir-i Hum, Karbala, the relationship between Salāwat and Walāyah and the concept of Ahl al-Bayt are discussed in the light of scientific and historical sources; the thesis that the intellectual and moral crisis in the Islamic world is not due to sectarian differences, but to the distancing from the center of Ahl al-Bayt is put forward.

Candlelight is Worship

“Controversial topics such as ”True Islam is Ahl al-Bayt“, ”Mumsöndü is Worship“, ”Our Oath is Bektashi morality“, ”The Ottoman Empire and the Republic were founded with Bektashi philosophy“, ”Whatever our Oath is, Gülbenk is too“, ”How the understanding of Kut was blended with Ahl al-Bayt“, ”Republic is the guarantee of the State, Secularism is the guarantee of Religion" are evaluated on the basis of historical reality and authentic sources.

The Institution of Deprivation, the most severe social sanction in history, is examined with its background and moral meaning; Vaka-i Hayriye is discussed through the military, political and social role of the Janissary and Bektashi Quarries in the Ottoman Empire.

Ahl al-Bayt was at the core of the Turkish States: When the Course Deviated, the Collapse Began

The Turks built the states they established after embracing Islam not only with military power but also with a strong spiritual understanding. On the basis of this understanding, the Ahl al-Bayt yeast, which represents the principles of justice, mercy and unity of Islam, has played an important role. The people of the heart and the people of the heart formed the spiritual yeast of the society and shaped the state order. Throughout history, when the understanding of Ahl al-Bayt, which prioritized justice and spiritual values, that is, the Right, was strong, Turkish states rose; when they moved away from Ahl al-Bayt, states weakened and sank.

The historical role of Yörük Alevis, the institution of Abdallık, the relationship between Ahilik and Bektashism, and the approach that Ahl al-Bayt is not a lineage, but an understanding of responsibility and morality are clearly and clearly revealed in the work.

Religious and Kemalist are not opposites; they go hand in hand

“Within the framework of the thesis ”Religious and Kemalist are not opposites; they lead to the same door“; ”The door to salvation is Atatürkism and Religiosity. Together, they are the harbingers of a life of justice, morality, happiness, peace and economic prosperity.".

Clear answers to slander

The slanders and distortions that have been directed against Alevis, Bektashis and Tahtaci for years are answered on the basis of documents and reason, without polemics.
“Alevism is the Way, Bektashism is Civilization” is a comprehensive work that brings together the wisdom tradition of Hacı Bektaş-ı Velî, the founding ethics of the Republic founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Prof. Dr. Haydar Baş's contemporary thought that sheds light on recent history in a civilization perspective centered on Ahl-i Beyt. In this work, İsmail Çetin evaluates the intellectual heritage of Hacı Bektaş-ı Velî, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Haydar Baş, who have the same spirit, on the common ground of justice, morality and civilization.

This work is based on the ideal of keeping 86 million people living in unity, solidarity and brotherhood, and has been written with the principle of embracing without marginalizing, excluding and segregating.

I believe that the perspective of an Alevi on a Sunnite and a Sunnite on an Alevi will change after reading this work; I believe that they will realize that they are fed from the same source and that they meet at the same center of truth.

It is clear that many breakups to date have been caused by hearsay, incomplete or inaccurate information. People can often act from a perspective shaped by prejudices, thinking that what they know wrong is true. At this very point, this work invites us to question rote memorization, weed out information pollution and center the truth.

My aim is not to make one side superior to the other, but to remind us of our common values, our common faith and our common conscience. Because the issue is not a race for identity; it is a matter of morality, justice and brotherhood.

I believe that with this work, the seeds of brotherhood will be sown in the hearts; it will contribute to 86 million people walking into the future with a stronger spirit of unity by understanding each other better under the same roof of the same homeland.

This work, which unites not divides, does not impose identity, and focuses on the truth, is a powerful source of reference for anyone who wants to understand Alevism, Bektashism and Ahl al-Bayt.”
