Hüseyin Baş, Chairman of the Independent Turkey Party (BTP), said, “As the Turkish nation, from this moment on, we will do what is necessary for our independence, for our freedom, for our Turkishness, and whoever is making other calculations on this homeland, on this land, whoever is giving a pebble of this homeland to a foreigner, you will say to him, ‘turn around and go away’. There is nothing else you can do, only then will we understand Atatürk, only then will we be patriotic.”.
BTP Chairman Hüseyin Baş continues his tour of the country that he started after the May 14 and May 28 elections. Baş visited Mersin's Bozyazı district. Meeting with the party organization here and exchanging views on local election activities, Baş spoke about the agenda.
The highlights of Hüseyin Baş's speech are as follows;
“Atatürk is a very important and vital issue in Turkey. Why? Because there is one thing that we all do in general, we commemorate Atatürk. We all commemorate Atatürk at certain times somewhere. However, there is something much more important. What is that? Understanding Atatürk! If we understood Atatürk, there would be no problems in this country. I'm not saying this for the sake of politics, why would there be no problems? It is Atatürk who gave us the consciousness of being a nation, it is Atatürk who gave us the consciousness of being a Muslim, it is Atatürk who gave us the consciousness of being a Turk. Therefore, all our beautiful qualities are the qualities we gained with him.
“ATATURK REBELLED AGAINST IMPERIALISM AND COLONIALISM”
If we could understand him, you know what we would do in this country? You would gather all the politicians you have ever seen and voted for, you would drive them to Izmir, you would throw them into the sea, you would do what Atatürk did. Why am I saying this? One man came out of these lands, one man came out, maybe one man in the last 500 years, and what did he do? He rebelled against imperialism, colonialism, those who made calculations on the Turkish nation, those who made calculations on the Muslim world, and he expelled them all from these lands and said, ‘My character is independence’. After that, he used whatever wealth he had under the ground for the nation and whatever wealth he had above the ground for the nation.
“SINCE THAT DAY, IN THIS LAND, IN THIS COUNTRY, THIS NATION HAS BEEN WORKING AS A SLAVE OF FOREIGNERS”
Well, after that... We sent our ancestor off to God, and what happened in this country not even 3 or 5 years later? This country turned around and gave away its nation and its lands to the people with whom it had fought wars and whose lands it had protected. Since that day, in this land, in this country, this nation has been working as a slave to foreigners. The rights and property of this nation are being sold to foreigners, to foreigners. Atatürk expelled them and these people brought them back. Now, if someone says, ‘I am an Ataturkist’ in this country, I am sorry, but you cannot be an Americanist Ataturkist, you cannot be a European Unionist Ataturkist, you cannot be an Ataturkist by saying, 'Let's give our underground mines to foreigners to exploit.
“EVERYWHERE IS FARMLAND BUT WE IMPORT WHEAT”
Look, I came here from Karaman, we traveled 3.5 hours. Everywhere is agricultural land... Endless agricultural land and we are importing wheat. Everywhere is agricultural land but we import wheat! What is funny is not that we are importing wheat, what is funny is that we are importing wheat at a cost of three and a half billion dollars a year, three and a half billion dollars. You cannot be an Atatürkist by doing this or by saying ‘I will come to power and import wheat if I have to’. Therefore, our issue is not to sit here and commemorate Ataturk to say ‘I commemorate Ataturk’. I can go to my room and pray two rak'ats and dedicate it to his soul. But we are trying to teach you to understand Atatürk. This is what Atatürk is, look at what he did, look at what struggles he fought... Therefore, our duty as the Turkish nation is to do what is necessary for our independence, for our freedom, for our Turkishness from this moment on, and whoever is making other calculations on this homeland, on this land, whoever is giving away a pebble of this homeland to foreigners, you will say to him, ‘turn around and go away’. There is nothing else you can do, only then will we understand Atatürk, only then will we be patriotic.
“WE HAVE ALWAYS PROTECTED THE INTERESTS OF OUR HOMELAND, OUR NATION”
The Independent Turkey Party is the only political party that defends independence in this country, defends the sovereignty of the nation, defends the Republic, defends secularism, defends religiosity, defends Kemalism and does not stand by any issue that is against this homeland, this nation, this state and this military. It was Prof. Dr. Haydar Baş, the Independent Turkey Party, who first discovered and warned about the scourge of FETÖ in this country. When America was entering Iraq and everyone was cheering, saying ‘they are bringing independence and democracy here’, it was Haydar Bas who stood up to them and said ‘don't do it, this will end up in Turkey’. When the Arab Spring was launched, when Syria was entered, it was the Independent Turkey Party that said, ‘Don't do it. We have always protected the interests of our country, our homeland, our nation and our state, and we will do so from now on.
“INDEPENDENT PARTY OF TURKEY PROMISES A LIFE OF HONOR, DIGNITY AND CHARACTER”
Now, as Independent Turkey Party members, maybe tomorrow you will not be able to take office at state levels, this is God's discretion, our nation's choice, we cannot know this. Maybe we will not be deputies, maybe we will not be ministers, but that does not matter. Do you know what the Independent Party of Turkey promises to those who stand by it? The Independent Party of Turkey promises a life of honor, dignity, honor and character to those who stand by it. It promises that when you die tomorrow, you will leave behind generations who will say ‘this man was a patriotic man, this man never abandoned his homeland, nation and state’. This is what the Independent Turkey Party will bring to you and to us. If we as a whole nation had this belief, this determination, this would not have happened to our country.”
