In Istanbul, apart from the “Change” group, there is a third group that is distant from both groups, demanding a “democratic statute” and a “re-evaluation of the party program”. In the Istanbul elections, each group manages perception with news that puts itself ahead.
According to a report by Cumhuriyet's Miyase İlknur, the assumption that the delegates will act as a block with the elected district mayor based on the fact that the names of provincial or current mayors won in the district mayoral elections is a mistake. In many districts, the organization chose to show its reaction to the mayors by supporting the candidate against the candidate supported by the mayor. While supporting the candidate against the candidate supported by the mayors, they also became partners in the provincial delegate list through bargaining.
FATH CONGRESS UNCERTAIN
Except for Beşiktaş, Ataşehir and Beylikdüzü, whichever wing won, a fragmented structure emerged in the delegate list. In the list of the districts supported by the centrists, there were a few delegates from the “change” group, and in the lists won by the “change group”, there were “centrist” delegates. The election results of all districts except Fatih district were approved. The CHP Provincial Administration filed an objection first to the district election board and then to the provincial election board due to the fact that the election in Fatih district congress was first sent to the neighborhood delegates with the news that the election was canceled and then proceeded to the election and the activity report and budget of the district administration were not read and discharged. The district and provincial election boards rejected the provincial administration's application for annulment. This time, the provincial administration appealed to the Supreme Election Board. The Supreme Election Board has not yet responded to the appeal.
According to the results of the district elections, the headquarters group seems to be ahead. Since the members of the provincial executive and provincial disciplinary board, who will vote in the provincial election as natural delegates, and the majority of provincial deputies and mayors are on the side of the headquarters, the headquarters has a more comfortable hand. However, it is still too early to talk about the names of the candidates who will compete in the provincial congress as they will have a direct impact on the outcome. Because more than the name of the provincial president and the members of his/her administration, the outcome will be determined by the negotiations to be made in the congress delegation and the alliances to be formed.
WHO WILL ERDOGAN TOPRAK AND RIZA AKPOLAT SUPPORT?
In Istanbul, Erdoğan Toprak seems to be gathering strength as a third group. Both groups may make an alliance with Toprak. While Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat has been acting with the “change” group, Erdoğan Toprak, with whom Akpolat has been acting within the party, has given messages in support of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. It is unlikely that Akpolat and Toprak will be separated in the provincial elections. Therefore, it seems that which wing this group will support in that process will only become clear in the days before the provincial congress.
8 NAMES MENTIONED
While Onursal Adıgüzel and Özgür Çelik are the possible candidates of the “change group” for the provincial presidency, the names of Selçuk Sarıyar, Müslüm Sarı and Mehmet Ali Yüksel are circulating in the circles. There are also negotiations to determine a candidate by consensus in order to avoid a bitter split in the provincial organization before the local elections. Gürsel Tekin, Necdet Saraç and Cemal Canpolat are the names being discussed as consensus candidates.
