Former Minister of Family and Social Policies, AKP Deputy Chairperson and MP Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya is alleged to be a former IBB employee. Kaya allegedly worked as an engineer at ISBAK, one of IBB's companies, for years and went to the US to study with the scholarship she received from the company. It is noteworthy that Kaya, whose siblings also hold important government positions, does not include any period of employment at IBB in his glossy resume. Kaya had recently paid a support visit to the dismissed workers protesting in front of IBB.
BROTHERS ALSO IN SENIOR POSITIONS
Ömer Fatih Sayan, one of her siblings, is the Deputy Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya's older sister Ayşe Hilal Sayan Koytak is also Ambassador to Kuwait.
When Sayan was the Minister of Family and Social Policies, her other sister Nazmiye Sümeyye Sayan served as a member of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Assembly and the tenders she received from municipalities were discussed for a long time.
Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya, whose siblings have been appointed to important positions in the state, has a very bright CV. Kaya graduated from both Bilkent University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. In other words, Kaya is both a doctor and an engineer.
TOOK PART IN AKP CADRES
According to Özlem Güvemli from Sözcü, Kaya worked as a project engineer in Istanbul for a while and then did graduate studies at New York University. In 2009, he was elected as an AKP Istanbul Provincial Executive Board Member. Between 2010 and 2012, he worked as an advisor to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the founding President of AKP. In 2012, he was re-elected as a member of the AKP Istanbul Provincial Board of Directors and was appointed as AKP Istanbul Deputy Provincial Chairman in charge of Publicity and Media.
During the 2014 Presidential elections, he served as the Publicity Media Officer of the “Erdoğan Istanbul” election office. On September 12, 2015, he was elected as a member of MKYK at the 5th Ordinary Congress of AKP and was appointed as the Deputy Chairman in charge of R&D. On November 1, 2015, she was elected as Istanbul MP. Elected as 26th term Istanbul MP, Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya was appointed as the Minister of Family and Social Policies in the 65th Government. She continued to serve as a minister in the new cabinet announced by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım on July 19, 2017.
SERVED AT IBB BETWEEN 2008-2015
Kaya, who is currently Istanbul MP and AKP Deputy Chairperson in charge of Social Policies, is alleged to have had another ‘job’ between 2008 and 2015, when she was elected as an MP, which she did not include on her CV.
The allegation is that Kaya was working as an engineer at Istanbul Informatics and Smart City Technologies (ISBAK) A.Ş., an IMM company at the time. According to the allegations, Kaya was hired at ISBAK on November 14, 2008, and after a short period of 2 months, on January 12, 2009, he went to the USA on an ISBAK scholarship. He returned from the USA on May 21, 2010, about 16 months later. Upon his return, he was dismissed. On November 14, 2011, Kaya's contract was renewed and he continued to work until April 20, 2015, when he resigned. Kaya allegedly continued to work at IBB until he resigned to run for parliamentary candidate from Istanbul in the 2015 elections, and continued to receive his salary during his studies in the US. It is noteworthy that during the period when he held important positions in the AKP cadres, he was also working in IBB's company and this information was never included in Kaya's resume. Kaya recently visited workers who were laid off from IBB subsidiaries and protested in front of the municipality. Kaya said, ’What our brothers here are most disturbed about is that they say, “We are being called ATM workers‘. Our brothers and sisters are extremely upset about such a perception operation. They say we are all people who deserve the money we get with our labor. This is also a very important point.’.
KAVAKCI ALSO WENT WITH A SCHOLARSHIP
AKP MP Ravza Kavakçı Kan was allegedly sent to the US for a ’doctorate in politics“ with a scholarship granted on December 16, 2008, the same day she was hired as a human resources specialist at Metro AŞ, an IBB company.
